It isn't a drug...it is a plant. The THC in marijuana is the "drug"...just like the linigans in flax seed is the drug...and L-Tryptophan in milk is the drug. BTW...we don't want "them" (Big Pharma) to make pills out of marijuana. We want the God-given right to grow the weed in our back yards. You can eat marijuana (Genesis 1) just like anything else. You can cook with it. It doesn't have to be smoked. They even make vaporizers now...no smoke involved. We need to get away from pills and back to raw foods as much as possible. The further away we get from pick and eat...the more man has gotten in the process to make money and screw up our food.

Yes isn't there an alternative so you don't have to smoke it? Someone I know got diazepam for his back pain. Don't believe that's sin, but my taking oxazepam to stay calm was.

I'll admit, I have smoked marijuana in the past. I don't any more and actually stopped long before becoming a Christian, because I am a mother. Marijuana never altered my thinking abilities. I never felt out of control when stoned. I'd, personally, rather be in a room with a bunch of potheads than a bunch of drunks.

This is one of those conviction issues, I believe. Since this doesn't fall under any Scriptural command I think it would fall under "all things are lawful, but not all things are beneficial" category.
Do you smoke cigarettes? Marijuana is probably less addictive.

I don't advocate marijuana, but it may now be legally obtained in various jurisdictions; even so, medical supervision is probably advisable.

I have a friend and his dad is a full time christian he wakes up at 4 a.m. to read the bible and pray and when he was working he was in an accident and almost paralyzed from the waist down and now he deals with terrible pain from the back and he doesn't like taking pain medications because that will kill you slowly so he decided to use medical marijuana. He says that god gave us marijuana for medicinal use. Is it a sin to use medical marijuana I know that no one has ever over dosed and you cant die from it so is it ok to choose marijuana over other man made pain killers.

I'll say the same thing here that I always say:

Asking "is X a sin?" is the wrong question. That's asking for a law, and is the same error that the one-talent steward made. He was focused on not doing the wrong thing rather than focusing on doing the right thing.

That falls into the trap that the legalistic Jewish lawyers fell into: Is it "work" to start a fire on the Sabbath? What about lighting a lamp? What about flipping an electrical switch to light a lamp? Is it "work" to feed your farm animals on the Sabbath? What about pulling an animal out of a ditch on the Sabbath?

Jesus clearly showed His contempt for that kind of thinking.

All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify. -- 1 Corinthians 10

The Lord is telling us through the apostle Paul to stop looking for a law ("All things are lawful..."), but to judge all things as to whether they are beneficial to the mission of Christ.

Is it beneficial and profitable to the Body of Christ, to me as a Christian? This raises the bar. Not is it forbidden...but is it profitable to Christ? Is leading to the obeying of one of His commands? What is Jesus getting out of it?

I think the day is past when the issue can be supposedly settled by saying, It's ilegal, therefore wrong. It is wrong where it's illegal, but the issue is greater than this, because it's been legalized in various jurisdictions ( see the video of the young lady using a vending machine in Canada).
