Well. Is it something good? Something to be heralded? Does it help others? I’m not saying it’s sin. The bible or says if a person knows to do good and doesn’t do it then it’s sin. He asked was it sin. I just merely quoted the Bible’s take on things

Yes, I think there is a big difference between indulging in pornography, objectifying others, lustful thinking and having a chastity failure while trying to be chaste. The struggle as well as the failures can teach us humility. But if one does not struggle, in fact feeds their own lust, that is a different matter.

I don't think masturbation, per se, is a spiritual problem. In fact, I doubt many men, especially when they are younger, can avoid it (I can't speak to the experience of women).. The spiritual issue is the objectification of others and a diminution of sex to a selfish pleasure. I think sex is a beautiful act between people who love each other. To reduce it in practice to a personal pleasure is not good. That being said, the sexual impulse can be distracting. I think it can help to release the pressure, so to speak, so that one can get on with things that matter. One of the advantages of getting older is that the insane drive that is so distracting to younger men settles down.

Porn is just horrible, I think. It's unrealistic and takes the problems mentioned above to another level. Although I don't think masturbation is unavoidable for most men, porn is.

I guess I can't say porn, but y'all get the point.

And that Temple was is capable of having sex by God's will. But that does not mean anytime anyplace. In the appropriate times and place is t is a blessing. As for the topic of this thread, there is certainly a moral and spiritual aspect to what we do with our minds and bodies. As I said earlier, chastity is the ideal. We should all strive for lust free thoughts and deeds. But can a married couple be "lust free" when making love? Can teens be lust free when hormones are awakening? I am just saying let' s be human and realistic. Even a person trying their best with best intentions can have a "chastity failure" just as we all have sinful failures in many aspects of our loves. Why make such a big deal over this one as if it is worse than the rest?

God created the sexual act for the purpose of unifying spouses and procreating children, not for mere self-satisfaction. Masturbation is a sin.

God also created science and according to science (which god created) in some situations, masturbation can alleviate pain like unbearable tooth pain. It can also help reduce the amount of stress and improve your overall mood.
