  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello people its music its entertainment. now if you want to listen to someone raping about murder or rock about drugs who cares its not like if your doing it. so exactly what is the sin to listening never heard that one before. and why is it that conservative christians are always the one's trying to stop expression. so if your in your car listening to christian rock and some hethan pulls up listening to pantara you are going straight to hell im sorry if one drop of that devil music hits your ears im sorry you are damned. get real people god does not care about what music you listen to he cares about if your a good person and if you listen to rock and your a good person i think your alright in his book.

But when does it become a problem? as in todays society music is so widely accepted even the worst forms of it, like rap and death metal.

It just seems like everyone trys to justify things, even music!

I dont think god will condem you if such a thing were to happen, but i do think that certin types of music are bad.

Its like saying yeah im going into a pagan temple but its ok cause i didnt touch anything, or, hey i looked at her but i didnt touch!

The content of the music does matter especilly in this day and age, i myself am a drummer and musican and i love to learn as much about music as possible.

In some cases, mainly rock and heavier meatal there is subliminal recordings, And in some cases it can be as bad as praising satan, now if your listening to this and head banging away, Are you safe from god becasue of your ignorance for not knowing about it or are you condemed for your ignorance?

The thing is, its not a matter of yeah this is a rock song it it sounds good, but why would god punish me for listening to it, its a matter of "this songs singing about un christan things" therefor its and un-christian song, if somthing is un-christian you should stay away from it!

Solomon who deem's what is "Christian" and what isn't no one know's so your guess is as good as mine. And i honestly i think we are judged on what we do that is good in this world and what is bad and listening to music with a few swears here and there isnt going isnt bad because it doesnt hurt anyone its just a form of expression and entertainment.

Every person must use their judgement to deem somthing "Christian" or not, and those judgements are made on what is said in the bible eg "your body is your temple it is holy and you should not descicrate it" i would interpret that to keep your body free of all permanent marks ie tattoos and any other such things which are permanent.

The problem with expression and entertainment theses days is its changed so much that were used to swearing and think its fine when its not!!!!

Say 30 or 40 years ago, Aside from the fact that if you were a kid and your perant caught you swearing youd get a right bolocking, even in entertainment swearing was unacceptable and not only that but also the whole immage of people, in movies showing too much skin (which wasnt much) was frowned uppon!

In modern days we accept what were given and thats, that!, we then get used to what ever it is we have accepted and then we justify ourselves whenever its classed as quesionable! or questioned.

For me a personal thing is the Cross, its a huge part of modern religions as i think is symbolises what people believe in, me personally i think that people are justifying themselfs because they were told to accept it, when you look into the past it was never anything more than an idol of the romans to make sacrafices to the god of the sun!

Its too contradicting for my liking sorry.

Death metal is not the "in" thing, it's hardly "widely" accepted. It's not Slipknot, it's not Korn (nu-metal). Sorry, but this got on my nerves. Don't denounce a sub-genre when you don't know much about it. Yes, there are evil people preaching their message in it, but there are also Christians that are very much active in this most extreme form of music. Most bands in the genre don't sing about religion at all. Some sing about ancient Egypt, others political, some mythology. In death metal, it really isn't about the message the band gives, it's mostly about the music, the instruments. Of all musical genres, death metal bands make the least money and have to have other jobs to sustain themselves. It really is about the music. Some of the most musically talented people in the world are in death metal bands.

Sorry if I came across as rude! Just a Christian metalhead wanting to clear up general misconceptions. :)

Just to annoy ya, what if someone has only a Christian cross tattooed on themselves? Or a Biblical quote? :p

I agree, not all heavy metal, nu metal and death metal are all evil... yes there are some but I just don't choose to listen to those. My dream is to form a christian heavy metal band because I don't know if there any of those (well there are some).
God likes all music cause he created it all, its just the lyrics in the songs that we have to be careful of

ok this is actually quite simple. rock rap and hip-hop are just types of music just like gospel and praise. but its all about what the words are saying are they giving praise to god and what he has done for us or are they evil talking about sex and drugs so on and so forth i dont beleive rap or rock is evil its what is said that makes it evil..

Naa still desicrating the temple. and i do know alot about korn and sliknot and all nu-metal!!

Im the cheeky one who contradicts himself and admits, yes i play the drums yes korn is my fav band yes i know all their songs and cds, and all the band members names, and the same with sliknot.

I know what they sing about and the immage they give, i also know sliknot has symbols ie 666, summoning circles etc...

So its not exactly christan, but me hey i cant take my own advice, and i know it, lol.

My fave korn song is wake up of issues, my fave slipknot song is purity from slipknot, selftitled, (not the japanese bonus)!
Hehehehehe, have fun racking ur brain as to why im so weird :sorry: lol coz im still trying.lol

So you say one thing and do another? Jesus had a word for that: hypocricy. (And He didn't lol when He said it.)

James 4:17
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

The guy is being honest, not hypocritical. Hypocricy is more like lying about what you do.

And I don't think Jesus intended for us to quote him in order to judge each other.

Jesus commands us to judge righteous judgment. (John 7: 24) A hypocrite is one who tell you to do something but won't do it himself. "Do as I say, not as I do," sort of thing. He is open about it but it doesn't make it better. Most people I hear using the word hypocrite use it solely against someone who points out sin. That is not the meaning. This guy exemplifies the meaning.
