Just believing in someone named "Jesus" means nothing unless we are talking about the Jesus Christ of the Bible. The one, eternal, everlasting, uncreated God. The one who created ALL things. It is like if you know someone called "bob" and i know another person called "bob". Now, can we have a conversation about "bob" without defining WHO we are talking about? No.

The mormon, Jehovahs Witness, Seventh Day Adventist, UPCI, etc. "Jesus" is NOT the Jesus Christ of the Bible.

Did Jesus really say He was God?

That’s exactly how Jesus’ original audience seemed to take it when He said, “I and the Father are one.” In fact, the Jews were ready to kill Him right there! Why? “Because you,” they said, “a mere man, claim to be God” (John 10:33).

On another occasion, He used the personal name of Israel’s God–the name revealed to Moses (Exodus 3:14)–to refer to Himself. And He even used the Torah for context, so no one would misunderstand Him: “Before Abraham was, I AM” (John 8:58). This would be about wild as telling a Muslim, “I am your God, Allah.” Don’t try that in Saudi Arabia! It’s no wonder the Jews tried to stone Him to death. That was the exact penalty for blasphemy under the Jewish legal system. It was pretty clear to everyone there that He was saying, “I am Israel’s God.”

Absolutely. The Lord Jesus Christ is God and incarnate in the flesh as well (John 1:1-4, 1:14) :).

Every Christian is a brother and sister in Christ. Catholics, Baptist, Non-Denominational, Lutheran, JW, Pentecostal, Mormon are all Christian. They all believe in the same jesus; and, they all believe that jesus shares the divinity of his father. They do not believe jesus is a mere human being. They are christians.

Your brothers and sisters in christ.

The mormon, Jehovahs Witness, Seventh Day Adventist, UPCI, etc. "Jesus" is NOT the Jesus Christ of the Bible.

If this is not appropriate staff, let me know. I just see non-religious debates...

Let me ask, Kiwi, when god said jesus was "the image of" god and "incarnation of" god, does that mean the same thing as actually Being god?

Jesus is the physical flesh incarnation of his father's words. (John 1:14) At first, god's words were verbal to his people of Israel (Exodus 6:2-in this case Moses). The people didn't listen to god's words. (Judges 2:10,12) so god sent his only son (who was with him in the beginning not was him in the beginning Genesis 3:22)

My father and I are one.

I am in the image of my father

The father is greater than I

The words I speak are not of mine but of the father

Key to this: I am not saying that jesus is not important. I am also not invalidating what and who jesus is. I have, myself, experienced the spirit of jesus.

The difference between jesus is god and jesus is the son of god incarnate is that if jesus were god, he would have to be pure spirit and not flesh. He, as a Jew, would have to divorce his belief in his father and look to himself as god.

But god says "god so love the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believed in him (jesus) would have everlasting life." God spoke these words about his son not about himself.

Another thing, is that if jesus were not god, people can actually be saved. What do I mean? Because people will die in the flesh/sin (Galations 5:24 and John 3:6) Jesus was flesh so Christians can see him and witness their salvation through His Passion.

But the Passion or message of salvation was not his own (jesus) but of his father.

When you say jesus is god, you are saying that jesus owns the message of his father. That would contradict what he says when he separates himself from his father.

1. I'm not saying he is not perfect. That's the point of him coming down is because he is perfect flesh like Adam a mirror of flesh that has not sinned.

2. I'm not saying he doesn't share in god's divinity. The father and I are one.

3. I'm not saying jesus is not important. Odviously, in the bible he is.

4. Just when you call him god, you call him pure spirit and authority over man. You make him own the message that he told christians was the message of his father. And you literally make the flesh an idol rather than the spirit.

Now it does not matter if jesus is god or not because he has the same divinity of his father as you quoted in your OP. That's not the issue.

Two issues I see are saying jesus the human is also the creator the spirit at the same time, and two, putting down your brothers and sisters in christ.

Whether it's against the rules of the forum to say this, I don't know but, as a former Catholic, it always bugged the mess out of me. I learned humility, honesty, and charity. I learned that talking with a JW taught me more about the bible than I learned by knowledge in the CHurch because the Church is all about actions rather than what you know in your head. It's about actions/wisdom not knowledge/theology.

Maybe the debate thread is a good place to critique religions that the majority disagrees with but not in the manner to say other christians believe in a different christ.
