I really appreciate what people have tried to say. But unfortunately I may have to move in with her. We both need it do to circumstances. I am disabled and want to go back to work. I am on disability, and I hate feeling like a leech living off the government. I even have a letter from DVR, a service program that helps handicap people go back to work, saying that they couldn't help me, and that I need to move somewhere where they have better services. My small town could not help me. But the big city have better resources, and I am going crazy not working. And my friend gets hurt by her boyfriend. And she can't afford to live on her own.

This sucks. I hate the fact that it gives off appearances of evil. But under the circumstances, we have no choice.

If we don't move in together, she will continue to get hurt by her boyfriend, and I will continue to be a drain on our economy.

It is interesting to me how some people think that just loving Jesus is sufficient despite what Jesus said in John 14:23-24:

23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

As I've pointed out before, Jesus' teachings are widely ignored within the Christian religion.

It amazes me that people will take the great commands of Jesus and try to make it sound like obeying them is disobeying Jesus.

Mat.22:37 And Jesus said to him, `Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thine understanding --
38 this is a first and great command;
39 and the second [is] like to it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself;
40 on these -- the two commands -- all the law and the prophets do hang.'

Loving people is obeying God. Indeed it is the only way the Bible says we can fulfill the law, what Jesus commanded.
Romans 13:8-10
8 To no one owe anything, except to love one another; for he who is loving the other -- law he hath fulfilled,
9 for, `Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false testimony, Thou shalt not covet;' and if there is any other command, in this word it is summed up, in this: `Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself;'
10 the love to the neighbor doth work no ill; the love, therefore, [is] the fulness of law.

Gal.5:14
for all the law in one word is fulfilled -- in this: 'Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself;'
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

Then there is 1 Cor.13 that says if you don't have love you have northing!

I didn't say that you shouldn't love anybody. All I did was point out that JESUS said that if someone loves Him, they -will- obey His teachings. If the don't love Him, they -won't- obey His teachings.

The two great commandments are only some of His teachings. I refer you to, as an example, His Sermon on the Mount.

Christians pretty much ignore those teachings. They pray in public, they are judgmental toward others, they don't love their enemies, they resist evil people, they lust in their hearts, etc.

It is Jesus' own teaching that we can tell who truly loves Him because they obey His teachings. If people do not obey His teachings, it is Jesus who said they don't love Him...not me.

I don't consider it unfortunate that you are helping her escape an abusive relationship.

And, if it helps any, I don't mind you being a 'drain on our economy'. Our economy can handle a bit of a drain if it means people can live a better life.

Yes all those commands are examples of loving people as Jesus commanded. So all I pointed out that those who love Jesus are obeying His commands as that is how one fulfills the commands. I got the feeling you were saying people like me who say they love people are often not obeying Jesus.

Ah, perhaps this is more a case of misunderstanding. And it is likely my fault for not linking only the line I was commenting on from your post. I apologize.

This is the line I was commenting on: " To love them the way Jesus loved them, to let people see how much we love Jesus and so we worship Him."

Jesus didn't say that people should love Him so much that they worship Him. Jesus said that if people love Him, they will follow His teaching. Note that Jesus did not specify just following His commandments. He specified His teachings.

I was not singling you out for anything. And I was not singling you out for loving people and not obeying Jesus. I was singling out the religion which leads people to think they can both love Jesus and ignore His teachings. Jesus says that isn't possible.

That's probably why he said "as it is to be Jesus to the people we meet." At no point did he say loving Jesus is sufficient, he even said to be like Jesus, in other words, follow his teachings.

...and your power of imagination determines what "looks like it could be wrong"?
No just a life time of hearing, there is nothing between us, we're just good friends etc etc untill they publicly declare they are living together/getting married/shes pregnant.
