Is it wrong for I, as a christian, to cut my hair?

What should I do?

Leave Pentecostalism. It is Spiritism mixed with Christianity. Of course, I'm a former Pentecostal and they say there's nothing more anti 'fill in the blank' than and ex 'fill in the blank.' My mom was a PK. The things I saw and experienced were enough to make me not want to have anything to do with Christianity for a long time. My little sister still doesn't ever want to step foot in a church ever again and I understand her anger- though it saddens me. It's a miracle I'm a believer today and I attribute that to Christ. I'm not saying there aren't believers in Pentecostal churches, but that belief system does more harm than good to a lot of people. Flee from it.

First of all, your pastor is not God. He does not hold any authority over your personal opinions regarding doctrine.

The reason Paul made that statement about women not cutting their hair was purely due to cultural reasons. At that time, short hair on women was a sign of prostitutes. Also it was a commonly held idea at the time that women's hair truly was her crown. Be careful to keep in mind when the culture of Biblical times comes through while you read the Bible.

Also, remember that the length of one's hair has nothing to do with salvation.

This is the best post I've seen so far. For being 17 this guy seems to know more than most adults I've seen. This is great advice and I think you would be wise to follow it. Just my opinion.

Please, don't feel obligated to follow man-made rules. Your salvation rests solely on Christ Jesus who died in your place on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins...not because you look a certain way to other people. You will NOT be closer to God by not cutting your hair. This is NOT a doctrinal issue whatsoever. People have misconstrued parts of the Bible because they haven't fully investigated the history behind some things...such as Paul's statement about women and their hair.

I've heard of people telling others that women should have long hair...well, my question back to them has always, been, "Define long?"

I don't know the answer and it seems that if we ask others we get alot of different ideas, maybe the one to ask is the Holy Spirit of the Living God. What has he to say about your issue, maybe even another question is why do I feel it neccessary to cut my hair, what is my motive, examine my heart oh God is what I would ask. I am a man and probably some whould say my hair is to long. Thanks Lord for you look at the heart and not at the outward man or woman. Where is my heart?
So you see I or another cannot tell you what is the answer, as the bible doesn't talk about trimming your hair, but also we are to be subject to those in authority over us, so maybe you could speak to the pastor or elder about this question.

Tsuki, God is not concenred with your hair, how long or how short it is. Would God love one of His children any less if she was bald, or any less if His hair was to the ground? No.

God loves you way more than anything else, and he is not concerned with your hair. God looks at the heart, the soul, which has no color, no texture and no length at all.

As someone ealier mentioned it would be good to ask the Lord to lead you to a church where they teach His WORD and not about hair, or religious rituals.

God will not love you any less for cutting your hair, not anymore for not cutting it. He loves you just the way you are.

While we are on the topic of hair, does anyone thing it is wrong for me to streak my hair blonde? I know my salvation isn't determinded by the look of my hair I just want to know if you think I would be robbing God of His glory by dying my hair. It would seem like such a silly matter, but clearly I would be doing it only for myself, since there is no glory for God in my hair being part blonde. And in light of the fact that my body belongs to God, do you think I would be defiling the temple that is my body by colouring my hair for my own personal reasons?

Why do we as people, obsess on the things that have no eternal value? I'm really confused. I mean, G-d is unconcerned with what we do to our hair. It's what's inside that counts. That's what Jesus meant when He was talking about not worrying what we put in (not talking about dietary laws here) but worrying more what comes from the heart. Where is your heart leading you? That's what we need to care most about. Not how we look. That's just all superfical.
