Is it wrong for Christians to wear crosses?

It just seems crass to me for followers of the living God to focus on the instrument of Jesus's death when he came back to life. While the fish isn't a great symbol, I think its better than the cross as far as a Christian standard goes. What do you think?
I think Christians need to be focusing on how internal their Christianity is rather than showing it with jewelry. If you can't show it by your actions, you don't deserve to wear a cross, fish, or any other Christian symbol.

An empty cross symbolizes resurrection and victory over death, so I don't see that as a problem. Catholics usually wear the Crucifix, which remembers Christ's sacrifice, so again, I don't see a problem with it.

However, if I were to think of the best symbol to represent my understanding of Christianity, it would be something similar to a heart, because I believe that Christians are called to love others, and in loving others, we love and please God. That is biblical, and what the religion is all about.

Christ came to Earth to show us how to love, and that is what I see the entire point of Christianity and Christ's message.

Erm, I think you're skipping all those unpleasant bits about how you have to repent as a sinner and find salvation in Jesus else you're bound for hell.

Seems to me you're missing what he's saying:

Mat 22:36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?"
Mat 22:37 And He said to him, " 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.'
Mat 22:38 "This is the great and foremost commandment.
Mat 22:39 "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'
Mat 22:40 "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

Love is the most important thing, in Jesus' own words. I do believe I've said that to you in the past...

Erm, I think you're skipping the terrible way it would be otherwise.

I want your conviction about something I've been considering.

I want to get the trinity symbol tattooed on my back. I figure it would be meaningful to me as well as a tool for teaching or being asked questions.

Permissible?

I was under the impression that everyone who was hanged on the cross was nailed through the wrists?

Some were tied to the cross or nailed to the pole, but nailing through the wrists was apparently the preferred method.

The symbol repersents the cross, where Jesus Christ died for christianity sins, supposed all mankinds sins. that's the focus here, go read a bible sometime before asking a troll question, seems like this fourm is infested with them.

It's not necessarily a trolling question, though. My great-grandmother was a devoted Christian, and member of the Nazarene church, for many years and was not in favor of wearing crosses or crucifixes, because she believed Christians shouldn't wear symbols representing Christ's death, because it was His resurrection and ascension that made His salvation work complete. The cross was one, torturous part of the process.

The cross as a symbol reminds me of the sacrifice God made for us. Unfortunately the cross has also become a secular fashion symbol for many. I think it's ok to wear and since we all may be on different levels of our spiritual growth, I think it's good that you asked this question.

I disagree, I love the symbolism of the crucifix. When I wear my cross, not only is it a symbol of my Christian identity but also it helps me reflect daily upon the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus. Granted, it's horrific but I think we should always bare this in mind, daily, we should be reminded of the suffering of our Lord that He went through for our sins. Macabre, perhaps, but powerful, I wouldn't want to wear some fish.

Jews have the star of david... Moslems crescent....
the cross is the reminder of atonement / propiitation / a command of Jesus to walk the walk each day....
all those who reject the cross and seek to enter by another gate, will miss the boat...

There are those who reject the cross who are firmly convinced and might even have more faith than yourself that their path is the one true path that will lead them to eternal life, and that in fact you may have missed their boat.

Atheists used to be better at this. Where is WiccanChild?

I have never seen a Muslim wear a star and crescent?
