Is it wrong for Christians to wear crosses?

It just seems crass to me for followers of the living God to focus on the instrument of Jesus's death when he came back to life. While the fish isn't a great symbol, I think its better than the cross as far as a Christian standard goes. What do you think?

Well it's certainly less offensive than the crucifix... But in general I think people have just come to recognize it as 'Christian', rather than to take a moment to think about how grim the symbol actually is.

That is was a grim device for death was kind of the point. The excruciatingly painful death He endured for the sins of all people. The cross symbolizes this sacrifice - which led to salvation and God's grace being available to all people who wish to accept it.

While there is undeniable cruelty and pain in the symbol, for a reason, there is also the greatest proof of salvation and God's love.

If you keep saying troll you're gonna get banned. (Helping out the noobs)

How am I going to get ban pointing out the obvious? Either some young kid trolling his first and probably his only post by asking silly questions that have obvious answers too anyone who had a half a brain, or someone who enters a thread by adding nothing relevant to it but some one liner insult to the thread owner is yet again currently considered a troll. I don't see why I would be ban by stating the obvious, if anything the actions I just mention would state for a ban if the mods running the forum, any forum were running it correctly.

I've been on many forums through my Internet experience, even though I might be new here, I highly doubt I should be called a noob which I take as an insult to my credibility.
If you don't like something I have said in a past thread then state it, don't find obscene subjects to patronise me with.

Before Jesus died on the cross, he had to carry the very same cross for miles on foot. I wear one to remind myself that because of what He did, all I have to do is carry a little bitty replica of one--and I don't have to suffer the spiritual death that is the wages of sin.

It's a grim symbol for a glorious sacrifice.

Being hung on a crucifix was certainly no laughing matter, but I could come up with several ways of killing someone that would be far worse. Jesus kinda got off light, considering what could have been done to him.

Sure there are worse ways to die. That doesn't change how painful and cruel the method was.
As it is, that happened to be the chosen method of public death for the Romans, meant as much for the killing of a criminal as it was to use them as an example to all others that might wish to do the same.

Why in the world would it be wrong? If someone choose to or not it's not even worth wasting a second even thinking abou it.

I see no problems with a cross. As others have pointed out an empty cross shows Christ's (and his followers) victory over death and sin.

I have a bit of a problem with what crosses are often made of and the size.

One can only sserve one master, in some cases the question of who is master, Christ or Mammon is raised.

Does the NT ever say specifically what kind of cross was used in Jesus's execution? Because the Romans also crucified prisoners on a Tau cross, shaped like a capital T. Maybe this should be the Christian symbol, rather than the Latin cross.

And not all Christian denominations use the Latin cross anyway. Orthodox Christians use the 3-bar cross:

I like the Coptic cross, which has equal vertical and horizontal bars, with 3 points at each end. (I think it's a nicer design.)

I wear a plain wooden cross...It is part of my witness of the love of God.
I have a friend that wears a "null" sign, as a symbol of his disbelief, and it doesn't bother me one bit.
I once saw a documentary that brought up an interesting idea, that Christ was crucified on a pole without a cross member...his hands were stretched above his head, making the torture even worse, and the nails pounded through his wrists to support his weight.
