Is it supposed to be lonesome?

It may depend some on which Christians you hang out with. I'm an Episcopalian in New Jersey. There were remnants of patriarchy here a generation ago (and still among a few of our oldest members), but for the great majority of people in my parish and diocese, egalitarian values are something we take as given. We have female priests, deacons, altar servers, and vestry members -- enough so that none of that seems unusual any more -- and we currently have a female bishop, who is very well supported and accepted in the diocese.

If there are some mainline churches around you (Episcopal, UCC, PCUSA, etc.), you might find it refreshing to visit one occasionally, to spend a little time with others who share your egalitarian values.

Am I the only Egalitarian that feels isolated or lonely from the rest of the Christians because of my beliefs?

Do others feel the same? How do you cope with it?

I doubt you are the only one. I concur w/ @PloverWing . It might help to find a mainline church in your area if you haven't already. We're out there, and perhaps there are more egalitarian Christians than it seems. The majority of the Christians I am close to IRL are egalitarian. I've been intentional about finding that kind of community, but I know what you mean. It's not as easy as finding something else that might not fit as well.

I moved parishes to somewhere where the rhetoric from the pulpit, and the community attitudes, were healthier. Not perfect, mind you, but healthier.

You might find it helpful to connect with like-minded folks online? Follow some blogs or FB pages which are egalitarian - I can recommend some, and I'm sure others can as well - and feel like you're part of a bigger community that way?

I don't have a Facebook but I'd like to hear about the Egalitarian blogs.
