Is it still a sin if you stop before you go all the way? (mastrubation related)

I'll discuss it...

Jesus had a human body. He defecated, burped, passed gas, had itchy feet, urinated and had erections and bad hair days. Fully human.

There is nothing disrespectful or blasphemous about those facts and anyone who says there is does not understand their own faith very well.

I won't even say it's blasphemous for a moderater to deny Jesus' humanity!

I was disciplined by a moderator for commiting blasphamy by suggesting Jesus probably had the same physical reactions as humans but I was warned by a moderator that I had commited blasphemy. I have learnt my lesson and will not say anything that suggests that his humanity means his bodily functions were the same as normal humans!

You are aware that any orthodox form of Christianity holds that Jesus was without sin, right?

I think it depends on your own definition of masturbation. You made the decision (and promise?) to abstain, so you know what you meant. Just don't try to deceive yourself, God will know!

P.S Since others have touched on the subject, I just wanted to add that I believe masturbation is sinful because it leads to lusting. As some pointed out, quitting at first does lead to more sexual thoughts, but if you dismiss them and, with God's help, stay strong they will lessen. It's actually the first months that are the hardest when you quit, just like any addiction I suppose, but with God's help it is possible. Quitting is actually more about controlling your thoughts than about the physical act itself, since the thoughts create the urge.

There isn't a natural bodily function that is considered sinful.

I looked back and I'm an idiot. I must have glanced at it yesterday and thought he had said Jesus had relations with other people, in the sexual sense. I don't know how I made the error, but I thought it said something different.

Oh, hehe, not a problem. I had an inkling that you might have missed something in his post.
