when the Son became flesh, he made the big sacrifice of reliquishing much of his power and his knowledge so to give us victory over sin?

Are you asking if Christ limited himself while on this earth as a man, so that he could more fully live the "human experience"? If so, I believe the answer yes. I think is especially true knowledge-wise. I mean, God knows everything. If Christ allowed himself to know everything while on this earth, that wouldn't be very "human-like".EltronRangamma said:when the Son became flesh, he made the big sacrifice of reliquishing much of his power and his knowledge so to give us victory over sin?

One proof of this is that he himself said that the Son did not know the day or hour of his return. Gopd knows everything - that is definitely limiting himself.

Well, I am on your side, and the answer is yes. Here are some verses that would show that:
Psalms 8:5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Hebrews 2:6-18 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? 7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. 10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. 13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. 14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
The omni-qualities of God are:
Omni-potent
Omni-scient
Omni-present
Eternal
As you pointed out, Jesus gave up these qualities temporarily so that in all ways He was like unto man. This does not mean He became less than God, for indeed He also is the very "image of God" manifest in human form. He only gave up His omni-abilities.
Blessings,
Dad Ernie
Jesus in my opinion said that he didn't know when he would return because there is no set date. He will return when we have gone so far into sin that we don't stand a chance of repenting. Because that completely relies on the free choice of humans how can he know when we will choose to be that far away from him.Slave2SinNoMore said:Are you asking if Christ limited himself while on this earth as a man, so that he could more fully live the "human experience"? Greetings,Serving4Christ said:How did Jesus know he was going to be Crucified? How did he know before the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] crows Peter would have denied Him 3 times? How did He know he would be betrayed?
Then again, Why did He cry out Abba, Father, Why have you forsaken me? Why did He sweat blood in the Garden of Gethsetmane? Why didn't he come down from the Cross? I could go on...but the answer is simple...
I don't know! Maybe He chose not to. He chose not to use His devine power, just like He chose to bear the Cross for us, just like He chose for us to want Him or reject Him.
The only way for us humans to get to God was through a sinless life, which none of us were capable of. The soul reason for Jesus taking on our burden of sin, was so we could get to God. He loved us enough to walk to calvary and be nailed to wood so we could some day meet our Maker.
To me, it doesn't matter if He did or did not. What matters is... had He not done what He did, I'd still be lost. For it was victory over sin that set me free.
