I know possessions are a way for a demon the latch onto a human but can demons physically leave Hell and invade Earth? Can God really hold them in hell forever?

The implications of being God is that he is powerful enough to control the realm he/she governs and If his/her religion is monotheistic the answer to your question is answered for those who believe in him/her.

Entities in Hell are there by their own choosing.
It could be said that God "forces" evil from his
presence, but I think that is just a turn of phrase.

I don't know. There's the whole demons are taking over the USA argument and then the end times and the this is a demon, that's a demon, here, there, he, she, it, pigs.
I couldn't tell you. I've tried to follow the whole demonic rhetoric via several religious explanations. All of them contradict. So I'm just gonna say,

Well with people all in a tizzy about recent subjects I'm not sure of the validity of that claim. Of course people 99% of the time will blame any negative on a demon, it's more of a figure of speech than anything

Demons can leave hell right now because God allows them to. In Job in the bible Satan also went into heaven, to talk with God.
Job 1:6-7 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
In the time of the end they will be cast into the lake of fire, at that time they will no longer be able to move around freely.
Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Presenting themselves before the LORD meant at the tabernacle, or where God made His name abide in that land. They went to offer sacrifices. It was somewhere on the earth.
