If you do it again then you have intent.Repentance is saying sorry with the intent of never doing it again. If you committed the sin again after repenting, then you need to repent again.
You should always be seeking forgiveness for your sin with the intent of never committing them again.
If you do it again then you have intent.
And have Never repented.
You can't accidently sin .
Any more then you can accidently do an act of rightousness.
Death to self means...death to self.
The question itself shows a lack of understanding what repentance is.Can we repent for future sins?
This statement shows a lack of understanding of what sin is.You can't accidently sin .

"Sin" - in both Greek and Hebrew are archery terms meaning to aim at the target but "miss the mark," i.e. the bull's eye.
Actually if you don't steal..your not a third. Jesus said the desire to do so begins in the heart..Spoken like a Pharisee... It is amazing how many people do not read 1 John.
Let's just go ahead and establish that you are perfect and righteous. You have never committed a sin since you repented. and therefore you have never had any reason to pray: "forgive us our trespasses". twice.
That being said, the rest of us are not perfect but are being moved towards perfection. While we have the Spirit of God, we still inhabit the flesh of this world, and therefore are still susceptible to stumbling in the face of strong temptations.
Temptations like lust, anger, greed, etc. You don't have to steal to be a thief. You don't have to kill to be a murderer. Or an adulterer to commit adultery.
We stumble and fall, and we repent and pray to never commit that sin again. But being human, There is a strong possibility that we will sin again. and so we repent again. Striving always to be sinless.
1 John 2:1-2
Do not sin, but if you do, ask for forgiveness and you will be forgiven. We are saved by mercy and grace, not by legalism. If it were possible for us to live a life without sin in these bodies, there would be no reason for church or anything. The Holy Spirit puts into us a new heart. A heart with the law written on it. And he gives us strength to follow that law, but we are still fallible.
of sin ...specifically the one people here are avoiding mentioning in their lifeyes, repentance is important - as long as you know of what to repent (and how)
Blessings
I am fully aware of that..and it changes nothingThis statement shows a lack of understanding of what sin is.
"Sin" - in both Greek and Hebrew are archery terms meaning to aim at the target but "miss the mark," i.e. the bull's eye.
Yes it does. You said: "You can't accidentally sin."I am fully aware of that..and it changes nothing
It is missing the mark.i meant whether everyone knows exactly what sin is and what is not sin, and how they should proceed in case they find themselves sinful
Blessings
Rubbish .Yes it does. You said: "You can't accidentally sin."
Trying to not sin, but failing in that attempt, is certainly not sinning on purpose.
That is "accidental" as far as I know.
Rubbish indeed. You are making strawman arguments, and not really dealing with the issue.Rubbish .
so you covet in your heart..you are then tempted by the desire of your own heart .you see ,$10 ..you trip over and accidently stuff it in your pocket and accidently steal it !??? .yes it's ludacrous.
You walk into your home..no one is home so you trip on the Matt bang the pc ,it turns on goes to a porn site and you lust over it and commit adultery .accidently..
Utterly ridiculous .try and pull that line with your wife .she won't buy it.
But you expect God to?
The issue isRubbish indeed. You are making strawman arguments, and not really dealing with the issue.
Except there are sins that are not known to be sins. The person has no intent to cease doing an action they know to be sin.
Then there is no conscience and they are innocent of it and cannot pray for that which one is not conscious of . but if they are praing about a sin they know is sin because they know they will to do it again.Except there are sins that are not known to be sins.
If we have sincerely repented to God it is inevitable that we will become less sinfulI think the title of this thread has caused a lot of angst for people. So sorry about that .
"Is it OK to pray to be less sinful in the future?" is closer to what I meant.
Knowing I wont be perfect, but at least I will try to improve.
It is missing the mark.
Doing instead that which we know by conscience is wrong to do.
It is also Not doing what we know is right to do.
