No, of course not. Mankind has progressed far beyond this.
Progressed? Hardly.
We have technology, nothing more.
Turn out the lights and stop the trucks for a week
and you will see just how progressed we have become.
So if someone says, 'hey, I'm gonna follow the teachings of Jesus because I agree with most of his teachings, but I think he was a mortal, and do NOT believe he is a Messiah."
Heaven or hell?
the "crime" is to forsake Christ and rebel against Him.
that's not a finite crime and doesn't stop or change when we die.
I disagree. For example we now realize both slavery and genocide are wrong. Will bad people do bad things? Of course, but that doesn't change the fact that mankind has become far more moral over the last 2000 years.
If you read my previous post, the one you replied to, you will see that I said that bad people do bad things. The thing is, slavery and genocide are both illegal today in the USA, and the rest of the world as well, with a possible exception or two.Man has time to sit and ponder philosophy. Yet both
genocide and slavery both go on today around the world.
Even here in the USA.

Those are two examples of why I say mankind is progressed morally in the last 2000 years. I can provide more if you would like.
"Mankind" is not who would be doing that. No, of course not. Mankind has progressed far beyond this.

As I have said and will repeat: Bad people do bad things. Murder in the 20th century is a lot easier in the 20th century. There are a lot more people alive in the 20th century.More people were murdered in the 20th century than the rest of history combined.
Progress??
p.s. slavery still exists
Until I see evidence that a God exists, I have no choice but to believe that the bible, and the threat of eternal torture for finite crimes, is written by mankind."Mankind" is not who would be doing that.

Slavery is illegal, there are international laws against torture and genocide, women have equal rights
If you are basing your opinion on facts, mankind has progressed morally in the last 2000 years..
Objective.OK. So if we are making progress, do you believe morality is objective?
Every crime is finite in essence within bounds of time like any other action, but its impact can be infinite. Crimes don't only affect one person, and doesn't only bear its consequence within the time of action.

your disbelief in a god has no baring on the subject. This seems to me like an invented crime used to justify an invented punishment that was only invented to get people to join a religion out of fear.
Can you give an example of a crime that has infinite impact?
