• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is it me?

Normally, the "Reply" button quotes the post you're directly responding to. You can add additional quotes from other posts by clicking the "quote" button for that post and then clicking the "Insert quotes" button directly under the reply you're composing.

Thanks to both you and Dave for helping. I guess I'm just going to have to practice this awhile before I'll get comfortable. The main problem for me isn't quoting the whole of the post I'm replying to but being able to put quote and /quote around phrases or segments when answering a series of points or questions.

Personally, I don't find any real difference between the old forum software and the new forum software in regards to bracketing multiple quotes from a single post.

The new forum software does make quoting from multiple posts much easier and quicker though.

Yeh. Try as I might, I just can't seem to make that work, even though I thought from the start that it should. I tried double clicking and all the usual variations but I can't get that "highlight text and click the scroll (as we used to do)" kind of function to kick in, even though I did once see the word "quote" show up in a black panel for just a second. It could also be a problem with this computer, which is none too good!

Is it just me or is this new site format completely messed up?
I don't like that we can't see anyone's info in a thread. I don't even know what pronouns to use. It made more sense to give people the option of what to hide.

Then perhaps ... Reinhold Niebuhr's 'The Serenity Prayer" (complete version)... is written for you

If that was supposed to be a link or a quote, neither one worked. And getting the quote button is not outside the realm of things I can change.

I've used the new forum software from CHROME, FIREFOX, Internet Explorer and Android now. All work about the same.

Are you clicking just the "far right" REPLY button only? The QUOTE button function is a bit more esoteric. I only find it useful when quoting multiple posts into a single post. Then, after hitting the QUOTE button another small INSERT QUOTES button pops up below the editor. Curiously, I find that the editing function also allows me to edit the same post in multiple browsers simultaneously. Weird, that ... though the "INSERT QUOTES" pop-up only shows up in the browser where I've clicked the QUOTE button.

Good luck. Hope you get it working well for you.

Ah, thanks. It still doesn't look like all the info, though.

The answer is that you now have to go through several less obvious steps and follow tabs that have different titles than we're used to. Try clicking on some posters name and you can get to the page I think you have in mind.

Still cannot unsubscribe to (unwatch?) threads.
Can't you go up to the top and choose "unwatch" thread on the right side? If you post in a thread after unwatching it then it will have it on your watch list again I think.

LOL.... Did you want I should RUN/FETCH it too

Any search bar would have fetched it up for you

The Serenity Prayer
by Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)Complete, Unabridged, Original Version.

God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

I guess that Unwatch Thread doesn't mean unsubscribe to them. Oh well.

Don't worry dude, I have the courage to get the quote button back!
