  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

is it just me???

You've got to look at the motives here. When you're signing up with a secular label and you put some tough God-given lyrics in your song, such as "you must take up your cross daily", the record company is automatically going to be concerned about how that affects sales.

It must be very difficult to completely ignore that kind of pressure put on you by secular record companies, and I would far rather go with a Christian group that understand the need to serve God before profits.

Plumb switched to a record label which mainly puts out Country artists I think. I don't know if it's the fact that Tiffany Arbluckle's now married, or it's the label, but I wasn't happy at all with the new album. There were about 3 religous songs, and all the rest were secular.

It seems most of the praise and worship leaves the song when they sign for a sec label. It's disappointing because isn't that why we listen to the music in the first place? It's like they start with pure motives but then the world gets a hold of them and they start going that way. It's sad to see them stray :(

does anyone think the message in the music is enough or should the Christian bands also tell the message...
a lot of the times i have been to Christian concerts i have seen people i know aren't Christians just there to dance around and act crazy...
they don't even listen to the words. Should they give a call??

their songs should have the gospel plain and clear
some christian groups I have listen to I think....now where is the REAL message....a lot of new groups are singing songs of doomed life and despair...... where is God, where is the hope we have in Christ, the gospel?

I been to concerts like that too with ppl getting into the beat of the music and not the message of the music.

Some christian artists out there are just trying to reach a broader range of people, to get them to experience God's love. Groups like Mars Ill and P.O.D. have clear religous messages in their songs but it's definelty not praise and worship music. Non-christians are annoyed by being preached to. Groups like those sign to major label to expand their ministry.

Of course their are some that just sign to major label to simply get more money. I won't mention names because I don't want to start an arguement though. These types of groups usually only have little messages about God in their songs every once in a while just so they can say they're christian. They attach the christian label so they can get money from both secular and christian markets.

So in other words their are good and bad christian artists on secular labels.
