If you folks have popped into threads I have participated in and felt I ignored you I humbly apologize and ask forgiveness.

Honestly, I don't know much about what you believe and at times, yes, that has kept me from responding. I usually try to at least find some common ground and build from there...based on the particular discussion... but at times do remain silent because I don't want to create un-needed tension by saying something that may be considered offensive simply because of my own ignorance of where you may be coming from on a given issue.

BTW, I do the same thing when Messianic or any other group is in the discussion. It isn't an intentional snub...more of an attempt at peacemaking.


Also, if I get the impression, from the person posting, that I can pick their brain a bit about what they believe without my being offensive (unintentionally) I try to take advantage of the opportunity.

I also agree that this may be the reason.

It's sometimes hard to gauge things on-line though. Speaking for myself, I think I'm coming off a certain way sometimes, but later will realize that some people are completely taking me the opposite of how I intended.

Although, I've definitely experienced some negative things on other boards on the net simply because I'm not an Evangelical. You just have to let it go and turn the computer off when it comes to this. It isn't worth the stress.

I've gotten that a lot, too, in the past couple of years. At first, it was because I had joined a moderate mainline church and was investigating the beliefs of some of the more liberal factions. But then, when I discovered Orthodoxy and became--well--obsessed with it , I got the same reaction when I began discussing/defending what I kept finding out. That's why I spend most of my forum time here--that, and TAW often has lots of posts to get through each day.

It depends on the flavor of the forum. Some are better than others. some take a long time to get to know the other folks and for them to get to know you. There are places that I used to go when I carried a generic Christian icon that I just don't go to anymore, the women's and marriage areas, mainly.
