It's hard to tell but it's certainly possible. I rarely post anywhere except here and in The Gamer's Zone and have noticed the same thing, myself but I realize how trite and shallow my posts tend to be so I don't let it bother me.

Then again, it could just be because you are Orthodox among heterodox and they just don't want to hear things from your perspective.

True. I've found it bothersome that you can write up a huge post about a certain perspective and have it completely ignored, but JoeSchmoe can write a two sentence reply with something they want to hear and get tons of recognition.

Don't let it get to you. I've resorted to posting where it's fairly normal to have your post ignored, ie: Outreach forums.

Well that's possible, or occassionally if one makes a great post no one wants argue with it. The other factor I suppose is one's ability to push buttons. Some people have a talent for reading others, finding soft spots, and hitting them. That tends to be the way you get the most attention, but I'm not saying it's per se a good thing or something anyone can do. Some people can do it, other's can't.

My thoughts exactly.

People do not want to deal with the Eastern Orthodox. I have found that to be true in most areas of CF.

In GH, they want to ridicule us. But in other places, we are just ignored.

I sometimes think that it is a form or prejudice, then when I am in a better mood, I see it more as a possibility that they just don't know what to say because they don't know anything about what we believe.

YOu are of course not going to be ignored here!

It depends on the flavor of the forum. Some are better than others. some take a long time to get to know the other folks and for them to get to know you. There are places that I used to go when I carried a generic Christian icon that I just don't go to anymore, the women's and marriage areas, mainly.

I have not experienced being THAT ignored on CF because of my faith icon. I did come to the conclusion, after feeling this way when I was new to TAW and wasn't posting elsewhere, that people were responding to earlier posts, which wound up getting posted right after mine (which looks strange to someone who's more used to a chat room format than a forum like this one). I would expect that the post right after mine would have something to do with my post, but in reality, the person could be on the OP, or an earlier response to that post, and just hasn't made it to MY post yet. His or her post will still come after mine. It might take hours or a day before I'd see someone actually acknowledge that I'd contributed (by a response, or reps, or quote). What is true about TAW, at least, is that you will not be ignored. In fact, you'll be surprised at the kinds of conversations that can begin with a simple comment around here!

You'll also be surprised at how many non-Orthodox lurk here. Could some of them be the ones ignoring our posts in other forums? I do know that they've taken threads that have begun here to other boards to discredit and ridicule us. I guess it all comes from putting ourselves out there, right?

It took me awhile to catch on to the rhythm of these boards. Now I just throw it out there. Someone might read it. Someone might care. Someone might ignore it. It might help. It might not. It might even show just how ignorant I really am.

If it is any consolation I was called an apostate for even considering leaving the Methodist church on another site's forums. Apparently Orthodox are Christians but we're apostates if we join the Orthodox faith.

We've posted links to threads from outside of TAW here, haven't we? Is there a rule against it?

There is a rule against ridiculing the beliefs of others. If you see people ridiculing our beliefs in other forums, report it. Some of the mods are more lenient than others, though. The key is to report it, rather than respond. Some people think any response to that stuff is debating, but it depends on where you are.

yeah, that's all I'm looking for...but as of now it really hasn't worked.
maybe I should just find another forum (like this one )other than the teen one to post in, since it might be more worthwhile.
