I don't agree. The culture of the US is steeped in Christianity. There is practically a church on every corner where I live. We have God on our money, our President swears on a Bible, and people are pushing to have Christian creationism taught to children of all faiths in public schools.

To compare things like the removal of "Under God" from the pledge and the end of compulsory school prayer to the persecution of the early Church makes no sense.

American Christians have no understanding of real persecution. We are not required to worship in secret. There is no threat that we will be drug from our homes and executed by our government in horrifically torturous ways.

There are Christians living on this planet today who ARE being persecuted for their faith. I'm sure they would praise God for the for the religious freedom we enjoy.

My sister in law is in china. She goes from time to time on missions trips. She hasnt email in some time. So we are just waiting to hear from her. They love to give christians a hard time over there. We just all need to pray for all the worlds christians. Pray for a quick return. I am really feeling the return coming on strong. The Holy Spirit is just jumping up and down. A real urgency for the lost.
No matter the cost. To bring one to the Lord, it isnt in vain. To plant a seed that will grow. It to isnt vain. They need to hear the gospel. No matter how we give it to them. Freely or with our own blood.
God Bless, GotoGod

I disagree, even though it isn't as extreme now, christians in the US are persecuted more than any other religions that I know of. As for the US steeping into christianity, I think that maybe the generations of my parents and grandparents are steeping, but my generation is falling in the other direction. Even though it's not bad now, I think it will in the future.

"More persecuted than any other religion in America"?! That's laughable.

How are they being persecuted? Christians here in the US are everywhere; we're supposedly the majority religion in this country.

Religious plurality in the United States isn't persecution.

I agree with this. Every day I hear more and more and it just makes me shake my head in sadness. All you have to do is look at the popular media to see it. My daughter's previous public school had "GLBT history" month but won't allow the words "Under God" to be uttered when they do the Pledge of Allegiance. Now I am hearing that the U.S. government is doing away with any kind of funding for any Christian-based programs in prisons. I'm afraid things are going to be getting a lot worse. We all need to be strong together. I fear for my children.
Well, the phrase "Under God" isn't even a true statement anymore. Maybe it should be taken off. And Christian-based programs violate the separation of church and state. It's be the same as if a Buddhist tried to put "Under Buddha" on the money or created a Buddhism-based program for prisons.
