I received a link from a friend earlier this week to a site that sells a special magnet health system that is supposed to give the people who consistently wear it "immortal life". I was a bit skeptical at first, but there are hundreds of testamonials that support it and he seems to have some fairly solid science behind him. It's obvious that if this works that we wouldn't hear much about it because it would put the doctors out of work. I think that there could be some merit to the claim that it will give "immortal" Earthly life, but I have the strong question of whether or not it is Biblical. If we're not of this world is it a sin to try to extend the time we're here? Of course every time we go to the doctor, eat healthy, or exercise we're extending our time on earth. I'd sort of like to live longer to spread the word of the gospel and I don't really look forward to the aging process. I'm really torn on this. The inventor claims that he received inspiration from the Old Testament with a passage that there will be a period of immortality here on Earth. Frankly I'm quite impressed to see a scientist give such respect to the Bible. But, I'm quite confused and worried. Could someone please advise me on what you think the right thing to do is.

I'd really appreciate any Biblical advice that I can get on whether or not using such a product would be looked upon fondly by our Lord, please also let me know what you think of the inventor's multiple scriptural intrepretations that are referenced on his site. I'd like to know one way or another if these intrepertations are reliable ones.

Because I am just writing this casually, I'm not sure on Biblical evidence. But I would say that, theologically speaking, that if we live forever then what is the point in Jesus? He died for us so that our sins may be forgiven, and what is the point in this cleansing? SO that we may have eternal life in HEAVEN, not here on earth. Some may disagree with me, but w/e. :p

Also off the cuff, so bear with me:

Firstly, I would caution you against believing those claims. I will grant that there are plenty of concepts of which the scientific world has no idea. Only God truly knows all of it. But God gave us the intellectual capacity to test these things. If something works, then there is a scientific principle behind it. What is that principle? In order to grant even a significant extension of life, there must be a method. If I were you I would have serious doubts about that. The testimonies are rather worthless at the moment. How old is the oldest person who gave a testimony? I would personally place those testimonies into one of two categories: either it is a psychological boost- a mental placebo with no measurable physical effect, or the company made them up out of thin air. Be cautious. Again, if it works, then there absolutely must be a repeatable, demonstrable effect, with a rational physical explanation.

Additionally, I could point you to numerous instances of scam artists using the Bible merely to tailor their sales presentation to an unwitting, mostly-Christian group of people. I used to work in sales, and one of the first rules of selling anything well is to know your audience. If that same scam were pulled in a mostly Islamic nation, the scammer would quote the Qu'ran.

In fact, if I had such a device that could actually grant extra years to anyone's life, I promise you I could sell them for an easy 20 grand a piece, not a measly 50 bucks, or whatever they claim.

I believe seeking eternal physical life has no basis in Biblical teaching. As npaylor said, Jesus is irrelevant if we don't die. Since the fall, all of creation is under a curse, and that curse involves physical death.

You bring up an excellent point, comparing the issue to modern medicine. I won't claim to know the mind of God. I suspect that the line is drawn with respect to the heart. If your purpose is to serve God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and through medicine or whatever, you happen to manage a few extra years, then I see no issue. But if your purpose is to gain immortality in this life, then God is no longer your first priority. That is a problem.

Now, one last comment: I believe it is against the rules of this particular forum to post an advertisement. Your affiliate id within the link is ridiculously obvious.

While I am certainly no scientist, I do work in the health care field. I will share a few things with you. First and foremost, most physicians would not hesitate to bring forth a product that would cure or prolong life.

While there may be some who are "in the business" for profit, most are there because they truly want to help people. I recently had a video given to us to "look over" regarding coral curing cancer and well, in effect, pretty much everything else. They also make similar claims about physicians and such. Last year, we were given magnets in lined boxes that we could place over parts of our bodies that would "cure" arthritis, etc. I have also been given books on megavitamins and how they are the "cure".

Truth be told, there is probably something to each of them. A shred of truth however. They all had lots of testamonials of great cures and how this was the ticket for them.

To use Scripture to back up claims such as eternal life by magnets or other means than believing on Christ, I would give great pause and skepticism. Because that would go against everything Christ did for us on the cross. It was by His death that we attain eternal life, only through Him can we be made perfect. Our outer bodies are but temporary, "flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.." (1Cor15:50)

That period of immortality on this earth would be the thousand year reign of Christ... and even during that time, there will be "some" people who experience death ( need scriptures?)...

Now, if we are in the millennial reign of Christ, then don't be confused because God gives us a roadmap in the book of Revelation.

And for goodness sakes, don't worry so much...

Matthew 6:25-27

25 "For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26 "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
27 "And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

I do have the quotes right on hand so if you need them just ask.

First, Yes we all have the opportunity for immortal life on this earth, how do I know this because it is said in genesis, that man was meant to live an immortal life on this earth. Why did Adam die? Well that is because he did sin and God told him that death would now be a factor. Keep, what happen next, the reason why many more years where taken off peoples lives (exiting of God spirit from humanity).

First thing I ask you is before you buy some bracelet, which is clearly of the earth (Paul told us we are creatures of spirit), are you following all of God suggestions on how to live long and healthy?

Do you eat un-clean food?
Do you set the Sabbath apart, and rest and be renewed by God?

O anther point, I am a believer in that when you die you rest until the time when Jesus comes and raises the dead from the sleep and the day of judgment is at hand. I also believe in two harvests into Life, which means all have a second chance, by why live a life leading to death when you don’t have to.

Back to the point,

So if you like the special magnet health system then get it, but remember if the living God gave life, then would not living God know how to prolong Life?

Hope that was of some help,
God Bless,
C.B.B (DaTsar)

I can say only a few things over this delima...

As it is for me I place my faith in the Grace of God and not in a man made bracelet. I think satan would do anything possible to avert anyone's attention to the will of God.

And for the period of immortality on earth...

Only God can make this happen for we are all weak in the flesh. Truly to be alive forever is to be alive in the Lord he is the Alpha and Omega.

I thank god I will not live forever on this sinful earth! I can see the day coming when I will be ready to go home to be with the Lord. Many in the Word OT have stated so too. As for taking care of the body this is important; to live eat healthily is important to a long healthy life; the keys to a long life are in the Bilbe too from diet to spiritual life. As for the magnets, give God the money, tyhe return will be much better.
