  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is it always like this?

I think it means, if you define a christian as one that believes in Y-shua yes she is, if you define a christian as one that belives that the christian doctrines created by man are mandatory, like the Eucharist, then she is not.
Thank you... your are a good man Stone:hug:

OK, This I can understand.

I mean Christian in the sense of faith in the Messiah (Christ) but in the jewish sense.
This I still don't get (and I promise I'm not trying to be difficult). Would stone's statement above basically sum up what you are saying here?

For some bizzare reason I cannot understand why you think church traditions are not "Messianic". Perhaps this could be debated in the debate sub-forum?

I'd relish the opportunity to compare 21st Century Christianity as you understand it and classical Christian Orthodoxy with 1st Century Judaism just to see who comes up looking the most like 1st Century Judaism.

I'd be interested to read a discussion on this. Fire up the debate subforum, says I.

Technically so is "Messianic Judaism". I have a Jewish friend, and she hates the term as all Jews believe in a "messiah"... whether he has come yet or not. She always says the term is redundant.

;)
I agree with your friend. That is why they were called "the Way, a sect of the Jews."

Shalom

funny, my exposure to Jews has had a somewhat different conclusion. In my experience a great many, here and abroad, don't believe in a Messiah of any kind. Not even the unidemensional "Messianic Age" much less a living and breathing individual called the Messiah. Heck, most of them don't even believe in G-d.

Perhaps he was referencing observant Jews.
