Magic is this: something that cannot be explained by nature or science. And although I agree with most of what has been said here one thing one thing I'd like to stress is this, in our Western culture we emphasize the natural aspect of things, ie: nothing supernatural takes place apart from God doing a miracle. Yet Satan and demon's are quite real, and although I don't know what their limitations/power may be I do know that they are a real foe we need to be on guard against.
If you'll recall the demon possesed man in the gospel's who kept breaking the iron chains they bound him with...doesn't sound like any kind of human strength to me. Just because it's supernatural does not mean it's from God.

1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

1 Tim 4:1-2 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,

SO that being said I do believe in a Sovereign God in whom nothing is done apart from His will, be it any principality or human or any other created thing nothing is beyond our God.

So, let's see. Moses... Did Moses ever mention Jesus?
Yawn. I am totaly aware that Moses or any other OT person was part of a miracle while procaiming it in "Jesus name" but the question asked was "What would you look for" and as we live in a post NT age, that is what I would look for.

From here on in I am bowing out of this childish debate as I am strong enough in my faith and knowledge of THE truth to not need to argue a point, and recognise when someone is simply waisting my time.

Ok, I cannot prove wether MAGIC in the bible was what we're thinking today, or if it wasnt even real. I'm sayin right now, is that a lot of things were mistaken as magic. like ancient alchemy, which was basicly unevolved chemistry misunderstood. Wizards in the mid-eveil times were just basicly wise noble men. Yes, i know "magic tricks" were performed in the bible, but those stories could've been fabricated, or falsely translated. honestly, would any man be able to turn a stick into a snake? If someone could, satanists who use magick would be doin it today, and try to use their "powers" to destroy others. The true sin, in magick, is the fact that its prayers of desired action relying on gods other than God. Its breaking the first commandment basicly.
Think about it, why would God give satan the power to answer the will of ignorant humans? Thats stupid.

hehe...let me interrupt all the arguing about magic v. miracles and laugh at that.

heh...so true. :p

Yeah, but obviously, your proposed rule won't work.

If you "know THE truth" you should be able to share it with us. From what I've seen, you mostly have strong opinions and very little information about the subject matter; a common combination.

The releationship with THE GOD, the one and only GOD. Don't be fooled by Satan anymore mate. He's giving you a lift to the only place his car goes.... hell!

I could spend much of my already stretched time going over that ridiculous explosion of fundamental rage, but I've got things to do. However, I will remark about this one comment (above) so that you might understand my perspective...I would rather rule in Hell than serve in heaven, I've no need for morals or other pointless drivel...I am not fooled by a fictional character, the real entity behind my craft is me.

I have a friend who used to be into magic, he was a high priest in a witch coven thingy (I'm not really familiar with the terminology). I think on some level or another it's real enough, but that wasn't the most important thing. He obviously wasn't fulfilled in that life, he goes to the same Bible study as me now. :)

The Bible goes totally against the practicing of Magic (Divination, Transmutation, whathaveyou). See Leviticus 19:26, Ezekiel 13:20

When playing a computer game, for me personally it depends on how real it is protrayed and my heartset on the game. If the Holy Spirit convicts me on a particular game, I wont play it anymore. I play the Warcraft series and it has very mild use of magic vs. say Hexen or Heretic which to me is entrenched deeply in demonic things, and I felt convicted that it was evil.

If you feel convicted about magic in a game, pray about it, that God would give you clarity on the subject.

The Only Sin God Will Not Forgive: is The One You do Not Ask For Forgiveness. Trully Repenting Will be Beyond Just Mere Words, You Must Act it Out as well, Turning From The Sinful desire (thats in ALL of us) ;)

if You Need me to Guide You Through Some scripture Dealing With This Topic, feel free to msg me And i'll Help You out!

I was wondering if there was a prayer for forgiveness for davling in the arts

You probably mean "dabbling".

Anyway, I think you want to look closely at what you're asking for; you're asking for a specific set of words that will attain a result. Isn't that the same thing that trapped you before?

Faith isn't a kind of magic. There's no special words that have magical effects. If you are repentant, and you are turning away from your error, then you're forgiven. Christianity is cool that way. You don't need a special prayer for this particular circumstance. You don't have to do something special to "be forgiven"; just seek forgiveness, and God will take care of it.

Its ok to use magic in games because, its a game. If it bothers you, don't play. I'm not gonna comment on the use of magick in real life. If you can't tell my opinion from my quote and the like, then I don't think I can help you. If you feel like you need forgiveness, pray for it, but I think you'll be ok. If Neopagans are right, you have nothing to fear, and if Christians are right, the God'll forgive you if you're sincere. Sounds like you got all your bases covered.
