Ok well i really don't know how I feel on this subject but what about self pleasure in general. Is by saying i love doing this because it make me feel good bad then. Say i love mountain biking and i do it because it makes me feel good, it honesty does nothing for god so does that mean i am sining? just a question

Too much of anything isnt good for anyone...
One needs to limit themselves to lives pleasures...

That is why there is help for addicts...
Food, booze, sex etc...
But now that does not mean that food, booze, or sex is bad for you if you limit them...
know what I mean??

Yes, but, abstinence is necessary.

Unless you really need it according to God.

You may be right. Do you have a quote from the bible? If you are correct, it gives me pause to wonder for probably the majority of the world lives in great sin. I looked(not greatly hard)and could find nothing. I think you really need some bible scripture to back up your statement.

Well, God does tell us that we need to focus on His kingdom and he'll give us everything else! (Psalms 37)

I think you might be taking that passage a bit far. Trusting in God does not necessarily mean that we shouldn't enjoy anything unless God explicitly tells you you can.

Personally, I am, in fact, abstinent, but that's my choice. I'll not condemn anyone else for choosing otherwise.

As I said...
Anything is excess is not good...
If one is masterbating day in and day out then one has a problem....
If one is eating until they are stuffed same thing...
Or drinking until drunk every day....
Or over excersizing....

One needs to limit everything....

That doesn't really tell anything about abstinence. I trust in God and my life is a shambles. Oh yeah, I know, way later on I will get my rewards but I'd like a litte happiness in this life. That is not so great a wish.

You really need a better scripture passage(s).

Certain sects of monks have been known for doing this. They did nothing but rely on God. Absolutely nothing. They sat in caves, constantly thanking God for the life they had been given.

Sorry I can't believe that we were given life so we could do nothing with it but stare at the sky. Unless something is harmful to myself or others, or clearly forbidden, I will assume that what God has given is good. So, before marriage, I see no problem in experiencing one's own body. Experiencing somebody else's body is the problem.

Agreed....although I need to comment on what you said about waiting for marriage....
I know others who have waited not until marriage but for that special person and have told me how wonderful it was...something that I missed out on due to the fact that I never waited for that someone special...:sigh:
Point is...waiting for that someone special makes a world of difference rather than just giving ones self away to just anyone....:( .

Yeah, we can find out how our body works, but how often do we need to keep checking it still works!! ;)

Also remember, what is good for us today, will often be bad for us tomorrow. People once thought smoking was healthy.

As a bloke, the one bit I can't get round, no matter how much I want to, is where Jesus said just lusting after a woman was like committing adultery with her. Cause without the lust, it just doesn't happen for me.

What I don't understand is that just because without the lust, it just doesn't happen for you seems to mean for you and many that that is true for everybody. It lust isn't so:D

Any error is sin, which etymologically defined means "to fall short of the mark."

touching yourself is a typo, thus an error, thus clearly a sin.

If the poster mean to type "masturbation" then, pardon the imagery, for a man at least it clearly falls short of the mark.

Laughter is not acceptable.

exactly

God goes blind with rage when we dont do things exactly right

one of the early versions of acts contains a verse , it says

laughter is proof of the existence of God (according to richard wurmbrand it does anyway)

i have a feeling you knew that without that info

good post
