In answering this question you will find your answer.

I wouldn't be making love with my wife if Jesus was standing in the room watching either.

Nor take a nice long refresing dump with Him in the room.

So that's not really a valid argument is it ?

masturbation isn't a sin, i do it 9-10 times a day and it feels grrrrrreat!!

Just because it feels good certainly doesn't mean it's not a sin. A good question to ask yourself is "Would it be pleasing to God or Jesus?" Being said that God put us on this Earth to serve and please Him not ourselves. So is masturbating pleasing yourself or is it pleasing God? DaveKerwin did an excellent in-depth discussion of masturbation with questions and scripture which can be found here http://www.christianforums.com/t46636-masturbation-discussion-thread.html if you truly want to do the right thing. Finally, the Bible says we should be "Masters of the Flesh" and be able to control our wants and desires not the other way around (the flesh controlling you). I hope these words are a blessing and light unto your path. Have a good night and God Bless! :D

Jesus is in the room when we do it and we do it anyway and Jesus loves us and knows that when we are able to stop that we will. If Jesus was in the room personally, I would not touch because all sexual activity is private and to my knowledge is not done in public in educated countries.

Also I ask, if Jesus was in the room in person when you were making love with your wife, would you do it. Probably not cuz making love, all sexual activity is private and we are not given to doing it in public, at least I am not. And not doing it in public has nothing to do with it being shameful......it simply is private.

thats exactly what I meant. It is a tool God designed to use as a pleasureful experience between two people that love eachother regardless of an [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]. But, why do we save sex for marriage if the best part of it(the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]) can be done whenever and however we want? I don't want to fight but until somebody shows scripture that proves their point I'm not going to even consider masturbation as anything other than a sin.

I'm not trying to argue any side, at this point. I'm just continuing this little bit of the conversation because I find it interesting. We agree on quite a bit, most importantly, that the best parts of marriage should be saved for marriage. Our disagreement is pretty basic--what are the best parts of marriage? Or, maybe, what is the best part of sex in a marriage. I do not think that the best part of sex is [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], and therefore, I feel no more guilt in having orgams outside of marriage than I do in hugging a friend outside of marriage. If you do, than, by all means, you are right to wait.

I have had one quasi-mininimally-sexual experience in my life (which I now realize I should not have had at all). It lacked, well, a lot of things, but most relavently, it lacked [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] and afterglow---and it wasn't the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] that I missed.

(and, I have to say, the 12 year old in me is giggling up a storm right now. I wonder how many times somebody can use the word "[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]" in one post.)

Well...
The best part of Marriage wasnt if I reached an [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] or not (last time I checked) though those are fun also:thumbsup: .
The best part was having a friend to spend ones life with...
A friend that you can act wild and crazy with, or weepy and emotional, moody, grumpy, loving etc and they love you regardless (either that or they put up with you for darn near 20 yrs because your so good looking that youve blinded them to all others :D - in my case 16 yrs ha ha ).
Now...on the touching yourself part...
I was taught that our bodies are ours...
Respect our bodies. Don't touch in public , love yourself in private so to speak.
The message I taught my kids is that its okay to touch what God has given you , not okay for others to touch it unless your in a special relationship (such as marriage) and visa versa.
Feelings are a gift. Your body is a gift. Use it in the right way.
touching yourself can be a wonderful gift.
And look on the bright side...No STD's, no pregnancies, etc.

Whether it be lust to touch or not, (I do think it is highly improbable to touch and not lust lol) allowing our bodily desires to control us is still a form of selfishness and Idolatry because we are putting our satisfaction in an [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] rather than in God.
First of all, masturbating isn't letting a bodily desire control you. Your "bodily desire" is to have sex with someone. Masturbating may well be a way of NOT letting that urge control you.

Second, who is ever putting their satisfaction in [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] instead of God? Do you mean people touch instead of... well, what exactly is it that masturbation gives me, that God should give me ideally?

If I want an [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] and I'm not married, I need deliverance from God because anything beyond sex with my partner(Gods design for the sexual system) is wrong. Especially if I'm married I have no business doing that because God wouldn't have us get married or wait til marriage to have sex if the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] wasn't supposed to be saved as a beautiful part in marriage. Whats the difference with having sex with someone or something(toys, etc. ick...) other than my wife for the purpose of enjoying an [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] or masturbating for the pleasure of an [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]?
The point would be to have an [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], I suppose. That's why I touch, anyway. I have no reason to believe that God doesn't intend for me to have an [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] unless I'm married.

The definition of fornication is unlawful sec or sex with anything or anyone other than my husband or wife. How does masturbating not fall in either of those categories?
Because masturbation isn't "unlawful sex". Sex is something two people do, isn't it? I suppose you wouldn't sleep around with just anyone, correct? Why is that?

If we're going to be looking at what sexual acts may or may not be sins (whether they be done on our own, or with another), we have to first look at God's design and creation in sex, marriage and the human body.

For that I recommend Theology of the Body, www.theologythebody.com It's only through stepping back and looking at such things, can we then get a bases on how to approach related issues, such as masturbation.

I think it is wonderful that the young people want to stay pure for God, to reject the sins of the flesh. If we have a whole generation of young people keeping God's word, God's wish/command that we control the flesh, perhaps our world will be safer in the future. Some of the older people may follow in the younger generations footsteps. It would be a very good thing. I may even have a go at following in their footsteps!!!

I said I wouldn't reply Holo but since you were responding to my post I'll reply once and then I'd like to be done with this subject. I'm not saying that there are SOME ways to justify masturbation. I'm not going to go into all your little comments because they are very immature and in my mind childish responses that really don't have anything to do with the point they're responces that anyone could use about any sin in their life. I didn't post to argue I posted because I thought that people were coming on here asking because they knew they had a problem and were wanting to here from people that have been delivered or are looking for delilverence from it. Perhaps if we didn't sit around at home thinking about whether or not it was a sin and went out and handed out tracts or spent hours in prayer and the word or helped someone in need it wouldn't even occur to us to touch. If you spend time praying about masturbation for a week or two really seeking the truth from God and you still think that its okay than thats great but I don't know a single christian in any of the churches(some very odd or liberal) that say its not a sin. Anyways I think this thread is becoming alot of people addicted to masturbation wanting to hear others tell them its okay and I think that the fact that this keeps going on and on and theirs always masturbation threads going on shows that alot of people like talking about it. Maybe it makes you feel better but I guaruntee if you spend time in the word and with an open heart cry out to God for wisdom on the situation, God will give an answer.
No hard feelings Holo I'd rather not talk about it anymore maybe I'm gonna go start up another post on something different! lol I think I'm sick of the big O and the m word. lol
Love you all as brothers and sisters in Christ!

well, I assume you are referring to oral or other things that I would rather not mention, and my personal conviction is that sex or sexual activities were not designed for someone to please themselves. Once again I say that sex was designed for creation and was made as a beautiful way for two to become one. Not for me to be pleasured by someone. Sex is not a game. All these other 'forms' of sex including masturbation is simply a way to please oneself. When someone is ruled by their lust and by their desires it becomes a game and even if you are having sex with a real person, in your mind its just like masturbating. You're doing it to please yourself not out of a pure love for your spouse.
Actually I'm not married but I was saved out of a very wild life that involved alot of experience in everything that we are talking about. I've often considered what I would do in the military and I don't condemn anyone in that situation. I just can't imagine justifying masturbating if I was married and living in the same house. If your sexual desires are driven by your pure love for your wife, you won't be tempted to touch when she's not around! If you have no control over your passions, then you will always be wanting to please your flesh. I have found out of experience that nothing besides what God designed for His Glory is fulfilling and it is all driven by a problem with lust.

And in response to threeinone's comments, yes, tension is always going to be there. But, have you tried crying out to God for deliverence from your passions? Jesus didn't save us so we could still be under the rule of our flesh!! He has given us the power by faith to conquer these passions and live a holy life pleasing to God! And Holo, gimme scripture. every scripture points against every response you give. If you had scripture to support you I would believe you because I don't live by opinion but by the truth, which is the Word of God. I don't want to come across as being mean either but every response you give me is exactly what I get when I talk to unsaved friends or people that I witness to on the street!
Rom 8:37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

I respect that you are saving yourself and all...
I respect your opinion on touching yourself...(I touch , my Husband though does not as it doesnt do anything for him).
But when I read that sex is Only for creation I had to reply to you as no it isnt.
We have children but we also knew our limit and stopped. That does not mean stopped having sex.
As I said sex nor [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] is what marriage is about, but it is enjoyable and I dont believe that one needs to stop having fun with their spouse. Infact Marriage is about having fun...whether fun in the bedroom (sexual)or fun outside the bedroom (non sexual)...having fun in a key factor...though again not the only thing a marriage consists of...(a marriage is much more than [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], sex for creating chrildren and having fun as anyone who is married or partnered will tell you).
There are also many married people that cannot have children. Im guessing your against ss couples so we wont even go there...so Ill keep it to heterosexual couples.
Many heterosexual couples are married and cannot have babies...does this mean that they should not be having sex?? Or not be married as they cannot have babies together?
Id sure hate for sex to be a chore...just to try to have a baby...
Sex with ones partner should be something beautiful and fun...Not a chore...never a chore. Sorry. :( :sigh:

no no no! I'm sorry that I came across like that! God forbid. I don't think that sex is only for creation. I've know people who would go a year or two without sex til they were ready for kids and needless to say they had a frigid marriage. I was just saying that oral sex is not what God designed sex to be. And that creation was a major part of sex and obviously theres only (pardon my bluntness) one place to put it for that to happen. Yeeks I hope I haven't offended anyone. That looks horrible when its written out. lol
God bless you and I pray God would continure to be with you and your husband and even if we disagree, I still love you and your husband as brothers and sisters in Christ.

You know bod

you are a wonderful person and you have an awesome goal. You talk about people being in this thread looking for information on masturbation. I've not realized that but then this thread is a lot longer than I thought. Why don't you start another thread about this with a bit different angle, maybe informative......something to attract those who want the same things as you and to talk about it and learn. It can't hurt.
