Did my family rename it to "Happy Gully" by taking a vote behind closed doors and locking me out?

You weren't there. What were they going to do, call up every single relative of the family from around the world and ask them? Stop avoiding the issue and answer the question.

Stating that they are not professional astronomers is a bit over the top. The vote was at one of the IAU conferences. Given that there are multiple conferences by multiple scientific organisations in each field each year and you can't go to all, everyone has to choose which conferences to go to.

Also, not all astronomers have planetary astronomy as their specialization, so scientists looking at star formation might have skipped this meeting for obvious reasons.

They didn't 'skip it' ... they went home, the vote was held after most attendees had already left.

From Post #5:
The vote was conducted in violation of the IAU's own bylaws on the last day of a two-week conference when most attendees already had left.

Links please.

And as pointed out, if the meeting was on the schedule and mainly planetary astronomers were there you don't have much of a complaint.

Also, many planetary scientists do not belong to the IAU and therefore had no say in this matter.

Ya ... I know; that's your trump card, when you get backed into a corner.

ETA: Here you go, an outside link for you to deny further: Laurel Kornfeld: Pluto still a planet | Gainesville.com

Wrong again AVET, you cannot back someone into a corner in the first place without evidence. And I see that your article did not support your claims. First it was not a professional article. Second it did not answer my questions.

Yes, it is obvious that many members of the IAU are not planetary astronomers. The question was what astronomers were at the meeting. Planetary ones or just average ones?

Don't know ... don't care ... don't care to know.

Your John 9 inquisition means nothing to me.

Right, that is because you know, that as usual, you are wrong.

You have no links that support your claim. In fact the links directly oppose it.

The group that changed the definition of planet was the group that was assigned that task by the IAU. Anytime that a vote like this is held not everybody will be pleased. So it does not really mean anything if people against this change can find a planetary astronomer or two that oppose it.

If you read this article you will see that it was not the back room deal that AVET tries to make it out to be:

So gravity is responsible for engines exploding? Does this only happen while Pluto is a planet?

I know you're just being silly, because no one could actually be that stupid as to think that's what I was actually saying...

So you think my comment about how it is foolish to be worried about what you're going to call a thing when there are much more important issues is unwarranted?

When scientists have to rig a vote to get a desired result, that tells me there's more to it than just calling something something else.
