Is flirting a sin?

Hi,

I'm kinda involved with a guy and whenever we talk he has a tendency to be flirtatious. And it seems to be...well the kind of flirting that would seem inappropriate in a dating situation. I'm going to tell him that he needs to knock it off, and that anymore of that and I'm gonna drop him like a stone, but that leads me to this question. Is ALL flirting a sin? My mom seems to think it's okay as long as it doesn't get too far. But, how far is too far?

If you are uncomfortable with it, or lets say the one you were with would not like it if he seen it. Then it has gone too far.

wait, I misread what you said, i am sorry. So you are dating a guy, and he is flirting in a way that is too much?

What is he doing?

From what you said, sounds like he is trying to get in your pants and you do not want that. If this is the case then you should tell him, and let him know if he cant control himself then you can not be with him. Let him know where you stand and make sure he knows you are not joking.

I don't think all flirting is a sin. It sounds like it is the type of flirting he is doing that is making you uncomfortable? I would just talk to him about it. His response will tell you what type of guy he is.

Flirting is only a sin when your with someone and your flirting with someone else (aka cheating). I'm not sure how someone can "over flirt" when dating. Isn't flirting part of dating? Obviously its diffrent if his flirting is something like him putting his hands where he shouldn't. But normal flirting is fine in my book. Like when I talk to my fiance online I'll ask what shes up to and she'll say "I'm talking to a handsome man!". Then i'll say "What?!? I'm so jeaous of that man! Hes lucky to have such a beautiful women for his fiance!" Then she blows me a kiss and we laugh.

Wow, thanks guys. I have some really great replies. Yes, CW it is making me uncomfortable. He says things like...well let's see things that describe being in bed together, touching areas a guy I'm dating shouldn't touch right now, and situtations that are not the most pure. At least if Jesus were sitting there listening to it. Actually if that were to happen, I'm very sure I'd be extremely uncomfortable. And really, I'm not sure if I feel right about flirting at all. At least not the kind that might build up certain expectations that would have to go unfulfilled due to my single status.

It is a form of intimacy, attention, appreciation... as long as you two are focused on being monogamous, I really do not see a problem. It is just another form of communication.
