  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

"that's a violation of privacy rights."...not really...If you're on Kazaa and you start downloading from somebody, that person can CLEARLY see who is downloading from them and quite simply notify your ISP...However, if they went looking around your PC for stuff then that is invasion of privacy, but you're connecting to a public area, which puts a wet blanket on the privacy defense...
RIAA personnel browse the p2p listings like anybody else. They create a list of songs shared at which IP address. They go after the IP addresses with the largest number of songs. They file charges and with a court order go to the ISP responsible for that IP address. The ISP is then forced to show the user information for the person who was using that IP address and the given time.

Somewhat of a public privacy thing. Everyone can see everyone's files, except they're finding your IP then reporting you to your ISP.

It's fine as long as you stay within the laws, if you are a student you can buy media licenses dirt cheap from universities and with mutiple users, it doesn't matter where you get the media from as long as you pay for the license.

As for music, I didn't see anyone complaining when we used to copy music from the radio to blank cassettes, they only got peeved when I quality of the copy got better.

And Metallica, what a joke, they didn't sell any copies oif their last wo ablums because they were absolute garabage, no one was downloading that caca. I don't even want to admit I ever listend to Metallica after all their whinning.

Square C... you've said alot that is true but there are some problems as to what you've said about buying a CD and making a copy and giving it to friends. That is illegal as well even if you don't make money from it. I know we've all done it and I'm not comong down on you but if you study the laws out you can only make a backup for yourself and that's it! (and they're working on making that illegal as well) I've made backups and I'm just now getting a handle on what the law says. It doesn't seem fair but when you want to walk before the Lord and please him it's good to know all you can. BTW, recording music off the radio and movies, etc., off the TV are completely different and has nothing to do with copyright laws. (it does but in a different way) Hang in there and most importantly follow after God, you can't go wrong with him... :|
