  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is Evolution Science? Is Science Good or Bad?

Is evolution more or less science then anything else? Do they really require evolution to meet all the same standards? Sometimes you have science making weapons that harm people. Then you have science there trying to heal them and put them back together. Is that the way science is in general? Do they create a problem and then try to solve the problem they create? For me that is where religion comes in. Clearly there are issues and problems that science can not solve and I have found religion has the answers and solutions for what is beyond the ability of science.

Is evolution science?

Yes.

Is science good or bad?
No.

Is evolution more or less science then anything else?
Yes. It is more science that a cup cake.

Do they really require evolution to meet all the same standards?
Who are "they", and the same standards as what?

Sometimes you have science making weapons that harm people.
Pretty sure people make weapons, science being an abstract concept without hands.

Then you have science there trying to heal them and put them back together.
Probably not the same science though.

Is that the way science is in general?
No.

Do they create a problem and then try to solve the problem they create?
Are these two theys the same they you mentioned earlier? Not sure on this one. It depends on who the theys are.

Clearly there are issues and problems that science can not solve and I have found religion has the answers and solutions for what is beyond the ability of science.
Glad my reality is not measured by your yardstick.

Scientists try to answer questions and solve problems, generally speaking.

Science is just a tool, though a very useful one. Scientists have ethical standards that they must follow, since science is neutral in terms of morality. These standards are implemented by state and federal laws, industry/ university guidelines and scientifc organizations and journals.

Evolution is not science, it is a theory that, so far (and probably will never be), has not been proven. Science is what is used to either prove or disprove a theory.

If you think science proves anything you do not know much about science.

Science is nothing more then the search for knowledge. It is neither good or bad in and of itself. How that knowledge is applied is up to each and every one of us. To me it is not that terribly different from religion. Some use their religion to help others. Some use it as a means of control and hurt. The good or bad is in us, not in the tools used to apply it.

Evolution follows the scientific method. The scientific method is the only way knowledge comes about.
All the scientific method is, is one big filtration system that is designed to either give scientists what they're looking for, reject it, or hold it in abeyance and still be able to call it 'science.'

It stamps one of three things on its input: ACCEPTED, REJECTED, or PENDING.

Since it is preprogrammed, it automatically accepts, rejects or suspends some things; such as:

  1. Evolution = ACCEPTED
  2. Bible = REJECTED
  3. Moon formation = PENDING

Theories are supported by the evidence, they stand on their own merits.
And programmed computers give them their merit points, don't they?

And machines calibrated by scientists give them their merit points, don't they?

AV I love your trolling... I know you understand what the scientific method really is, but I'm guessing your post was to make a point about how most creationists have NO IDEA what the scientific method is, right?

Nice parody to the ignorance of creationists, well done sir... 10 internets awarded to you.

We'll take this with a grain o' salt. ;)
