  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Okay so I've got two gorgeous parakeets/budgies and I've noticed that anytime I get close to the birdcage and I'm wearing something black like a sweater or something my budgies freak out. I sometimes where dark coloured wrist supports which I have to take off now when I handle the birds because they are terrified of them. they're fine with my light coloured support though and even like to play with it. but I cannot figure out why black should upset them so much. As far as I'm aware they haven't gone through anything traumatic connected to that color.

so is there an instinctual reason for my birds to be afraid of the colour black?

Some birds are just scared of a certain color. I don't know why. I heard of a person who had a grey and one time she walked out of the shower with a white towel on her head and the bird freaked. She could wear any other color but that white towel. I've never had that problem before. My quaker doesn't like it when I wear long sleeves, sweatshirts, coats, ect. If I do she will be very agressive toward it and bite it. I don't know why.

Good luck with it. And congratulations on the birds!
