Is being attracted to the same ethnic-type, constantly, a sign of idolatry?

When I was younger, my ethnic preferences are different than now.

People change. My ethnic preferences right now are Asian, African, Semitic (Jew or Arab), and Latino.

Because I'm most related in appearance to those Ethnic groups. It's scientifically proven you are probably most attracted physically to people you look most alike with. And would probably be also true with regards to personality. This is true with me.

It doesn't mean I'm not physically attracted to white Caucasians. I am too if I find they believe in the same things I do.

The real problem is idolizing people or relationships. We are attracted to who we are attracted to physically. It only becomes an issue if you won't date someone who is a potential partner because they don't have a particular "look". You seem to believe that relationship solves a lot of problems. But as a Christian, it can also cause a lot problems if you do find that "special" person and you aren't in a place in your life where you are ready to get married....especially after you opened God's wedding present early with a girlfriend instead of a bride and you know what you are missing out on.

I think the problem is in doing this you'll end up always looking up to someone and this is especially a problem for a man if he's constantly looking up to his girl instead of it at least being equal. I've seen it happen numerous times where a black guy is with a white woman and is constantly looking at her like he won the jackpot and i think this is a serious problem for both parties. Regardless though whatever you like is what you like and if the preference you desire isn't interested it may be time to reconsider your interests.

Having a personal aesthetic preference for, say, redheads, is not idolatry.

It is idolatry if you spend all you time thinking about and looking for a "redhead" can be a form of idolatry though

1. other people, with a view to helping them (Matthew 25:35-40)
2. doing your job well, or getting a job if you don't have one (Ephesians 4:28, Ephesians 6:5-8)
