Is baptism required?

I believe water baptism is required yes. I will explain it further, when I've properly understood it all myself.

I still don’t know for sure whether baptism is required for salvation or not. I’ve read a lot on this forum and internet. One says it’s required, the other one says not. Who is right?? I don’t know what to believe anymore and my backstory is a bit complex. I’ve already posted my story last year and you have to read it to understand my problem. Here’s the link:

For some time I have doubts whether I'm saved or not. I still don't know for certain if baptism is neccessary for salvation. I was in my late teens when I got baptised. But I didn't understood the gospel. I believe in Jesus and God and everything in the bible and I was raised as a christian...

What am I supposed to do? I tend to believe the side who says it’s not required, but I’m not really sure.

And what if someone just cannot be baptise because of different reasons. Like if there is war in your country, be in jail/live in a country where Christianity is forbidden, people on their deathbed, stuck alone on an island, live in the desert, have a phobia for water, or in my case, have anxiety. If I think about al these reasons, it makes sense that, the side who says baptism isn’t required, is right. Or else it wouldn’t be fair for the people who don’t have the possibility to baptise.

It is not required for salvation, because salvation is dependent on God's grace alone: "By grace are we saved through faith, not of ourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works lest any should boast." But baptism, being personal identification with the death and resurrection of Christ, is an important part of our developing sanctification. It is our declaration to the world that our faith is in the finished work of Christ on the Cross and the promised that as He was resurrected, we will be resurrected to life when Jesus comes again.

I answered that in the latter half of my post. Although one doesn't have to be baptised as part of his salvation, if one is genuinely born again of the Spirit, then he would want to be identified with the death and resurrection of Christ, and therefore would happily choose to be baptised.

There are some who believe in baptism as regeneration, hence infant baptism. I don't. I go along with believer's baptism, where one is already regenerated by God's grace and the work of the Spirit causing one to be born again. Therefore, baptism is for those who are already regenerated by faith in Christ. Anyone who has been genuinely converted to Christ will say, as the Ethiopian eunuch, "Here is water. What does hinder me to be baptised?"

Yes you did and I stand corrected. As you said, "[baptism] is an important part of our developing sanctification." I should have read your post better. I do have senior moments.

I do have difficulty with other statements you have made, which I may comment on tomorrow. I don't know.
