• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Last week there must have been over 100 adults, and over 35 kids. I counted at least 35 kids getting up to leave after the worship music, to go to the kids groups. I've seen as many as 60-70 kids when we were at the old place, downtown, on 9th Street, by the railroad tracks.

A quick update, my CR has been going for nearly 2 years now, this summer we have an attendance of about 150 adults and around 50 kids in precovery. Thank you God for the miraculous healing you are doing here and for giving us a ministry in which to use the hurts of our own pasts to help others.
To God be all the Glory, Honor and Praise!!!

Last night was another awesome night at Celebrate Recovery ... The spiritual life is not a theory. We have to live it. (Daily Reflections). We have to grow, or else deteriorate. For us, the status quo can only be for today, never for tomorrow. Change we must; we cannot stand still. (As Bill Sees It).

Last night I helped out with cleaning up after dinner, so I missed most of the worship, but did catch the last song, which was inspiring as always. There was a special song by one of the band members. I'm glad that I have opportunities to serve .....

The men's small group is growing ... not so small anymore. There was around 14-15 men. One man brought his son (late teens - early 20s). I had a difficult week at work, and really needed the support and encouragement .... Thank you Lord for giving me the strength to carry on and the will to help others ....

I am in a leadership position at our CR ministry at our Church (...and its not even my home church. It is a Baptist church and I am Catholic). But that is one of the wonderful things about CR - I was never made to feel uncomfortable about my Catholic heritage nor do I question their denomination. We are all members of a precious fraternity)

I have seen several start-ups and participated in a couple. Some start off blazing and quickly grow. Other have had 3 or 4 members for years. Our range from 45 to 60 participants weekly, and we have 2 to 4 step groups cooking at any one time.

Support from the church seems to be crucial in developing the program I have found. It is not a dark secret of the church, to be held in the basement. This is something to be celebrated, talked about and cherished. Chains of slavery are being shed here....this is something to be shouted from the steeple!

Another good thing is that they are all the same. Like McDonalds, I can go on vacation to Florida or California...and they all are run pretty much identically.

The reason CR is successful is that there are people sufferring from all sorts of hurts, habits and hang-ups. God wants us to be free from sin and to be the best version of ourselves. It is difficult to do that dragging around the anchors of our past.

Just some areas of recovery addressed at our CR: alcohol/drug addiction, co-dependacy is a big one, sexual addiction, pornography addiction, anxiety, depression, gambling, smoking, anger, suicidal thoughts, cutting pride, compulsive eating and fear.

I say go for it. God frees our souls. Now help Him free some lives.
