Is anyone else watching the Strange Fire conference with John MacArthur?

I retrieved the following story from my archives of devotions. Twelve years later after this incident my friend is still alive.

Most of my friends at work are Baptist and the ladies I use to make samples for at work are Baptist. One lady Baptist friend at work had many heart attacks and the doctor had called the family in to tell them it could be any time. To be honest with you I thought that was the last of poor Nancy! Well, the family had a prayer team come in and anoint her with oil and pray the prayer of faith over her in the name of Jesus. A few months later Nancy is back to work. After getting the story I asked Nancy were those people who prayed for her Pentecostal? No she said... Baptist!

Nowhere in scripture does it say that the promises of the Gospel are for a certain group or time frame only!

It is Bible doctrine, and you can styudy to prove it true for yourself, or try to prove it is not.

Every believer has some things right.

As to the story of people and Holy Angels as devils food?

entirely speculation.

But just to scoff without searching to see for yourself and making empty comments with no foundation is giving nothing of substance, just empty wind.

Seeing past the grave into those matters is and will remain problematic and largely subjective guesswork.

When they arrive to my eyes as eternal boogeyman tales used by religious authorities to scare and control other believers I IMMEDIATELY DISCOUNT such as any form of truth telling and that is pretty much where it landed.

Bottom line is I am cautious about what various christian feeding chains sell to their flocks to control them and keep them paying.

I've been charismatic for over 25 years and have never ever heard one say that the Lord would not answer the prayers of a Baptist.... anyone praying in faith can have their prayers heard and answered. In fact there are many Baptists that are charismatic... seems the head of missions was a few years ago... quite a controversy about it??

they are streaming it live on the grace to you website and its extraordinary I am only sorry my family members are not open minded enough to listen and hear the problems with tongues and healing and prophecy.

I don't listen to much secular music and would not allow someone like J.MacArthur to try to influence my faith. He has set himself up as judge and jury of charismatics and no matter how many times he is refuted, he does not submit to the scriptures

Unholy angels and fallen unredeemed Adam persons and the demons will indeed be "devil's food", and the devil's food -and reward in the Lake of Fire-is to torment and afflict those who belong to him forever and forever -and that is the food and drink for the demons on earth, now, in this age, who serve the satans by doing the tempting and seducing of mankind on earth, while the evil spirits in heaven =the satans- tempt and deceive the holy Watchers in heaven.


Whoever born of Adam's seed is blotted out of the Book of Life [by their own rejecting or neglecting of the Light that lights them when they come into the world in this age] will have their reward in the Lake of Fire forever, being tormented day and night as undying worms in the Lake of Fire; which is the kingdom of darkness which is the domain of the prince of darkness and his unholy evil angels =the satans.
The Lake of Fire was made for the Devil and his angels to rule forever, over those whom they deceive and who of Adam's seed do not repent. The satans are the "evil spirits in heaven" and they were made there to do what they do, "Tempt angels and mankind", from the time of creation.

there is a lot going on with the Mac Arthurites. No matter what it is always look to the bible. there are some very broad statements being made. I won't argue about this one. Arguing is not good.

I had never seen a pic of him until you pasted that link...I clicked it and clicked right off -I do not like his looks in the spiritual sense....ugh!
Not to mention that he is going against the Word of God as the NT teaches, and is in contradiction to it. -I wonder why? Certainly not because the Holy Spirit leads him to do such a contradicting thing, indeed!

I might suggest that many people get weird bends when entering the damnation of other believers territory and that in the land of Christiandom, IT PAYS to do so.

the first time I saw J.MacArthur it made me wince. He was on Larry king and I had no idea who he was but thought it looked like he was wrapped up like a mummy... since then I have found he is probably bound by a religious spirit.

It's not ok to reject the gifts of Holy Spirit which are all mentioned in the New Testament and many in the OT as well.

This is the age of Laodicea.
That means we are dealing with the lukewarm church. The lukewarm come in many different formats. Some examples of being lukewarm are those who are simply not excited about their walk with the Lord and have fallen into worldliness. But another example of being lukewarm are those who reject portions of what the bible teaches and only adhere to what they want to believe.

This man, MacArthur, is encouraging people to fall away, and anyone who rejects that which is of God will not be a part of the bride of Christ unfortunate as it is. The wise virgins stayed full of the Holy Spirit (oil) and held onto their intimacy with Jesus. The foolish virgins didn't have any oil and were locked out = They will not be the bride of Christ and their robes will be stained.

Message to Laodicea
14 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this:

This scripture above is to those who don't have the true things & knowledge of God such as His giftings.. They think refusing them is wise & think they "have it all" but in reality they are blind & poor in spirit (they do not have the things of the Spirit). What are they overcoming? = Lukewarm Christianity.

How can anyone tell a sick person that it is not God's will for them to get better? I keep anointing oil and prayer cloths in my car. One day my 88 year old granny got very sick. I prayed for her and she got better. She went another year without getting sick and then a stroke got her. I would pray and believe with her every day. But, when the inevitable happened, I had to let her go. The stroke was a massive one and she never regained consciousness, in which I am thankful that she went peaceably.

Just because someone doesn't buy what a lot of charismatics are selling in regards to speaking in tongues, doesn't mean they reject the concept of the gift outright.

Do I think tongues existed? Sure. Rome was a cultural epicenter with a variety of spoken languages, tongues was necessary to carry out Christ's commission to take the gospel to the ends of the Earth.

Do I think the inane babble that a lot of charismatics (e.g. Bethelites and IHOPers) spit out is the same thing? No way.

Do I buy this "prayer language" or "angelic language" or "heavenly language" nonsense as an excuse for the anarchy that some call speaking tongues today in 2013? Nope.

I have a good friend -A true sister in the LORD- who is in heaven now, and I hated to let her go. She was healed by the LORD of cancer 22 years ago -I think it was- and He spoke to her at that time and promised her "many more seasons", and also spoke to her that "by My stripes you are healed".

Two years ago, another cancer came, and she went through chemo and other treatments that made her very, very sick. She also asked for prayer and was better...no sign, but then, her son committed suicide [age 56 and was not born again, as he had no up-brining in the LORD, but many witnessed to him: anyway. His mom was only saved a little over 22 years or so.
He shot himself with no note, just got under the influence of "spirits" and did the deed. She was going through chemo and did not have a clue he was talking about it because of his MS, and telling his friends that he did not want to live to go into a wheelchair....he was 56, as I said, and long gone from parents house:
anyway, then hubby of hers had an accident, and was bed bound a couple months [he is not a believer], while she was going through chemo...
she was still doing well, but then, a daughter announced she was divorcing her husband, a minister [the only daughter in family who was a professing Christian]. That finally broke her spirit, and she decided she was "going home" -and less than 3 months later, she went.
She literally died of a broken heart, but she very much wanted to go home, and I could not keep her, though with all my own heart, I would have, if I could.
She was one of my best friends, and she has had many answered prayers, but at age 72, after all these things, she just decided she was going....
But before she went, she had many miracles that no one can deny.

The one thing that cheered my heart was to discover at her memorial service that she planned the entire thing a month before! Her pastor told us she even wrote her obituary -I had wondered, for it was a strong witness for Jesus, and no one in her household would have written that. She also picked a poem that stated very clearly for us who were left, to "let her go".

She knew, and she went home....but before she went, we had many miracles together.

I will second that... I am interested in building my faith, not destroying it.

We have enough of the world tearing us down on a daily basis. When you have your own brothers and sisters mowing each other down it is quite sad and a deep deep pain not easily recovered from.

The golden calf example given in the 1st session is an excellent example of why the charismatic church is off course, in that they use a false representation of the true God.
Or rather worshiping the true God in a false form.
The bible is ripe with examples of how terrible corrupt worship is in the eyes of the Lord.
