All I can say is what a great movie!
Loved the way it was set 30 years in the future but still had throwbacks technology wise to how we live to day like cars with wheels instead of flying cars, etc. some of the apartments still had older furniture etc.
Many futuristic movies are set up so that everything is so different that everything in them is unrecognizable versus how we live today but this movie blended it nicely, sort of like society was evolving, fast for some, slower for others just like it is now.
Lots of action, a few good laughs, just what you expect from Will Smith.

So, it was a good stand-alone, entertainment movie? I've read a lot of reviews that say it shares just about nothing with the Asimov novel except the name. Meaning, it really doesn't have the cerebral regard of Asimov's series --just a bunch of action.

Honestly, I've never read the book but I would guess if your a Asimov purist that is true, I've read a bunch of reviews on Yahoo's movie pages and all the Asimov fans hate it and all others love it.
I just thought the movie was really well done as far as being true to the book,
I'm not qualified to say.

It is not a nothin'-but-action movie, but it is also not even Asimov-lite. Some interesting ideas to wrestle with in between and betwix the action.

I always like Will Smith, even if he does more of less play the same character over and over again. That character is usually affable and witty and I'm always glad to have spent a couple of hours with him.

In the end, I think this seems to be the general concensus among movie critics. Maybe I'll have to go see it afterall. :)

I went to see it the other day, I was pleasantly surprised. I did not know anything about this movie. I suspected it to be a blow em up ask questions later kinda movie. But its not.
The detail is the sets was cool, kinda gave you the feeling that it was in the future but not that far off.
Really liked it.

Never hear about the 'Asimov' before need to do a search on it to see what I can find.

If movies were made exactly like the books, they would suck.
Why?
Because it would be to freaking long, and making movies is an art totally different than writting.
You have to have momentum in a movie, and if it drags out, it better be good.
There is simply to much you can put in a book, that you can't put into a movie.

So a word of advice, don't expect a novel to be filmed, unless its broken up in parts.
