I'd be more worried about getting struck by lightning. Whilst something like the coronavirus can last a few days on surfaces, it can only do so with decent humidity and reasonable temperatures. I doubt you get the time, humidity and temperature in a shipped package.

It's probably not Coronavirus in the case of the pope. Possible, but I'd say the odds still are that it's something else.

The Coronavirus is going to blow up all over the world. It's inevitable now. It is worthwhile to slow it if possible, so vaccines can be developed before it gets really bad, but it's going world wide and there is no stopping it now. Not the pope's fault.
