Well it looks like Apple still doesn't have the naming rights to IPhone.

They never did, Cisco TM'ed that back in 2000.

I think Apple is hoping for the sway of public opinion on this one to get that name from Cisco.

I dont know if it will happen....

They'd have to take Cisco to court to do that.
As long as Cisco keeps paying for the trademark, they are the legal owners of that trademark and there's not really much Apple can do about that.

If they did, chances are it'd get laughed out of court.

Allegedly, Infogear, which was later aquired by Cisco, filed for trademark in 1998, but abandoned efforts in 2003. Then in 2004, Apple filed for trademark.

The talk have been posponed two weeks...

And the debate is if Cisco still has the iPhone trademark, as there may have been a long enough gap between the last two models that the patent may have expired (there is a rule that it must have a product with the name in market, and no more than 5 year gap)...
