• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi everyone does anyone else get images in their heads . So I was going through a really bad time I have ocd since I was young. My image is to do with the devil and black spirits taking over my head I got through it the doctor gave me diazepam but now when I get stressed it comes back . I hate it and I dont see alot of others with the same thing which makes it feel like mabey I'm actually going crazy or being possesd. The doctor said it's the way my mind is dealing with stress as I tried to admit myself years ago. I can go months without it and then bam it's back. I constantly think I'm going mad and I hate it. Does anyone else get anything like this xxx

Look at these verses: Like a radio tuning into your frequency.

Ephesians 2:1-3
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience. 3All of us also lived among them at one time, fulfilling the cravings of our flesh and indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.

Yes, I get that, especially when I’m trying to pray. Ignore them. It’s not coming from you.

Thankyou it's so hard to not think they are dragging me down in my head and I'm going crazy!! I've been here before and got through it I just hate it and havent come across many people who have evil image images which makes me feel theres something seriously wrong me me. Thankyou so much for replying xxx

mabey I'm actually going crazy or being possesd.

You are not going crazy nor are you possed.
Ocd is a mental illness and one of its symptoms is what are called intrusive thoughts.
I have not heard of people actually getting mental images, but I am not an expert on mental illness.
The recognised method for dealing with intrusive thoughts, is to just acknowledge them.
May I suggest that you try this, but also can I urge you to request help from a psychiatrist as what you are suffering sounds far more extreme than is normally reported here.

I get mental images too at times. I try to re-direct my mind to something else. Meditation has really helped me with this. Not Eastern type of meditation, I fill my mind with scriptures and force my mind to focus on those for a length of time.

Edit: Over time, meditation gets easier and for longer periods. Take charge of what thoughts you spend time on.

Oh, yeah, it’s pretty common. Don’t worry too much about it. A lot of us suffer with intrusive thoughts or intrusive mental images. Just bring your focus back to Christ, seek His mercy and help, and keep going.

Its not easy to pray with a mind that is 100% focussed. The devil will try all ways to stop us from concentrating on God and our prayers.

Just try your best to be determined to do ur very best in prayer, no matter what the devil does!

You are already winning by praying to Our Heavenly Father!

God bless you

A+E is for emergencies, ask your doctor for an appointment with a psychtrist, or ring 111 and ask to speak to one.

you would not expect someone to self help if they suspected they had a broken leg would you.
you have a mental illness that should be checked out by a professional, not your gp or A+E.

It will take 6 mths to see a shrink so make the request, keep a diary of intrusive thoughts and images. When they happened, how you dealt with it, how long they lasted etc etc

while waiing for your appointment read:- Sam – OCD & Taboo thoughts | OCD-UK
an account of how another person dealt with intrusive thoughts.

OCD can be so hard to deal with! Do you currently have any support for your OCD? I could suggest some useful websites and resources if that would be helpful for you. I'm also part of a good support group on Facebook, so I can send you the link to that if you would like.
