I've been seeing this woman for just under 2 months and just recently started calling and thinking about her as my gf. I had not really told my friends about her for several reasons.
First I'm a pretty private person and don't randomly call my friends to tell them all thats going on in my life. Secondly its been a while since I've had a gf and didn't want to get my and their hopes up about this.
This weekend my mixed gender group of friends called me to hang out, bbq, etc. and I brought my gf to introduce them to her and her to them. Everything seemed great and we all had a good time. A friend of mine who wasn't there called me today, furious that I would let her know that I'm seeing someone by bringing them and introducing her instead of sharing that information ahead of time.
Now I'm probably very dense, but to my male mind, I'm having a hard time understanding why my female friend is so angry that I didn't tell her about my gf before. Is that a very rude way to let people know you're seeing someone? We're good friends and go back a long way but we haven't talked in several weeks and I wanted to tell her face to face but it just didn't work out that way. I feel like I'm missing something as I've hurt a friend and don't really feel like what I did was wrong or mean.
