Intro to EO.

I would like to know, exactly what is the EO faith about? How does it compare in beliefs to Roman Catholic and your standard fare Christianity? I have been looking around for information, but thought it would be best to get information direct from the ones who follow it. Also helps me probe my questions.

I would like an introduction to the EO faith and what it is about. Comparisons as mentioned above are so I can get a good view of where your EO views differ. I know very little so even the most basic of information would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Comparing Orthodoxy to the rest of Christianity is not so simple.

I have heard it said that Orthodoxy sees Catholicism and Protestantism as two sides of the same coin, while we are a different coin altogether. On the outside you might think we are just an "exotic" form of Catholicism, with sacraments and liturgy, and apostolic succession, etc., just like Catholicism. But when you look past that and get inside the faith, you begin to understand that we are very different. That's why we often just say "come and see" because you have to experience Orthodoxy to begin to understand it. I think it's especially hard for Catholics to understand the differences because we do look and sound so similar that they can't believe we could be that different.

The best resource I've found yet has been the "Orthodoxy & Heterodoxy" podcast on Ancient Faith Radio. Although I don't think I'd recommend it unless you have a little bit of familiarity with theological terms, its very good for "this is what they believe, this is what we believe, this is why", clearly illustrates the doctrines of EO.
