A sure sign of living in God's will is being open to in iterruptions...The Lord taught me this when I worked at the Fencing Company, I would go to daily mass at noon, but had an estimate to do at 11:30, a peice of cake, except everything went wrong, the guy wanted it figured several different ways, then a neighbor came over and also wanted an estimate.
I was silently complaining to the Lord that I was going to miss the Mass, when he told me "you will serve me better and please me more, if you take care of these people" I was immediately able to give them my full attention, no longer counting the time and totally abandoning the idea of going to Mass that day, from that point everything went smoothly and I was really surprized to find I still had time to make the Mass when I got done!............................................
One time I really needed to talk to someone, and after the 5:30 Mass I asked a friend if he'd like to go get a Pizza and a cuppa, he informed me that he had all these prayers to finish, and he was fasting today and didn't want to break his fast....I was really hurting, and it taught me the value of dropping your own plans to serve your brother.............................................
A few months later, my friend David was having a problem and a bunch of us were going to Hardy's for a bite to eat, I said "Cya later! I'm going on home!" David asked me to come to the cafe, he had something he wanted to share. I immediately abandoned my own plans and went to the cafe with them, David had had a dream, that the next door neighbors had a kid about 8 years old, and they had big 4 brown dogs they kept tied in the fron yard, and a big black dog chained in the back yard, the kid came out to the yard, and the 4 dogs attacked him, Dave dreamt he was standing by the fence and watched, but didn't know what to do...Then the big black dog broke free of his chains, beat up on the other dogs, and it attacked the child even worse than the other four dogs, In his dream he thought,"I am a Christian and should do something! should I go tell the parents? should I call the police?" but he did nothing, and was berating himself for not acting!...Some told him it was just a dream...He replied, "Do I quit being a Christian in my dreams?" Three of the people tried to console him, but nothing helped, because he had failed to act! when some of the people left, he was still feeling miserable, and they had not helped at all. I asked the Lord for something to help him, and was instantly given an answer.
I no longer remember it exactly and perhapsI have written it somewhere, but here's what I gave him as best as I remember.
Dave, you are right...you should have done something, but here's what it represents. The four dogs represent the things taught in our schools that are attacking our children today, Illicit sex, abortion, situational ethics and evolution. they are destroying our children! Then the big black dog represents satanism that is making big inroads to our children.. You were right...we aught to do something!! but what can we do in the face of these evils attacking our children? Tell the parents? they are part of the problem! Call the Police? they are supposed to be the defenders of society!! good choice, yet neither action will work!! You are right!! we should do something....but what can we do in the face of this??
It really helped him let go of it, and he quit beating up on himself for his 'failure', but it wouldn't have happened if I had not given up my will, to do the will of someone else. Barnabus
