  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am unable to use my internet explorer in my other computer. I called the cable tech yesterday and he told me that I am able to ping by IP but unable to ping by domain's name and unable to surf by IP or by domain.

I reinstalled the Norton virus today, scanned and all and there is no viruses found. I am still getting the this error message: The page Cannot be displayed, Cannot find server and DNS error.

Beginning with Windows 98, Internet Explorer is an inextricable part of every Windows operating system. So your two choices are:

1) Reformat and reinstall Windows
2) Use a different browser, such as Mozilla, Netscape or Opera (or Lynx. Just kidding! ;))

Yeah, try Mozilla, its very good indeed. i tried MS IE, but its just too many pop ups and viruses.
So Mozilla, for a clean surfing experience.

Mozilla definitely is better, with a lot few errors and freeze ups than IE. Another good thing about it is that it has a built in pop-up feature, where you can also change the settings to allow some pop-ups. Virus wise, well, all computers get viruses. When did your problem begin?? When did IE start to do the weird thing??

it sounds like something within the Internet Explorer application is corrupt.

If you're absolutely sure you're virus-free -- and remember, several viruses within the past year have been "back-door" type viruses which come in through open ports, and NOT through email; I would recommend:

1) reinstalling Internet Explorer, along with the components which go along with it; or

2) reinstalling the Windows operating system, then doing all the Windows updates.

I'd be curious to see if you're having problems with other applications which utilize network and Internet services.

I'm leaning toward the #2 right now.

I attempted to reinstall the internet explorer and have no luck. I don't have any internet connections on that computer at all.

What is Momzilla?

Mozilla. It’s a Web browser.

Is it like Internet Explorer?

It does basically the same things as Internet Explorer, only better—more standards-compliant, and free (or open-source, if you will).

If it is, how can I install it to my computer?

Download the Windows version and, after that, double-click on the installer icon.
