I have always been leary of any of those sites because you just never know. But there are 2 couples in my bible study that met thru online dating. One is a couple that is getting married in March and they are really young (20,21) and the other is a couple that are in their 60's I think? They met online but the woman thoroughly checked out the man and even made him give a list of all his contacts before she could go out on a date with him. She checked out if he really did teach Sunday School at church and called the school where he works (he's a principal). They both are a good fit for each other, but I just don't trust people, myself, so.....and I feel the Christian sites are more vulnerable because they throw the Christianity in there, so a woman might think she's met her dream man and it's all a facade.
EXACTLY!!! It only takes one bad apple to spoil the entire barrel and this is exactly what happens here! Since I have moved to this town, I have been burned 4 times by people boasting what good Christians they are! It's truly depressing when you think about it?
My most recent bad experience with a couple who proclaimed they were such good Christians burned me really bad on a bartar deal. Some of you may recall a spa/tub I bought for a certain someone that I decided to bartar on Craig's List for a riding mower. Since I've been really limited to what I can do physically, I really needed a riding mower in order to keep my lawn neat so, I ran an ad offering to trade this beautiful tub for a riding mower and cash because of the value of the spa/tub compared to a small riding mower.
This couple showed up (young couple) with a nice looking riding mower and the wife wanted the spa/tub so bad, she was almost begging to make the trade. When I asked about the mechanical ability of the mower, the husband went on & on about how great it was and that as a good Christian he would put his word on it and would never dream of doing someone wrong? That should have been the first red flag!
The trade was made and I decided since I was feeling a little better that day that I would go ahead and mow the lawn right then. This was about 30 minutes after they left. Not more than 15 minutes into the mowing, this mower stops running and it won't start again? Now he had run the mower in front of me so I could see how well it worked so, I was taken back when it quit on me? I called them that evening and he agreed to come by, pick it up and find what the problem was? He said he felt bad about the whole thing because, once again he boasted what a fine Christian he was and he would make things right!
Two weeks later and endless calls to him that he refused to return, I left a message stating he needed to contact me or this would become a legal matter. He called that very evening claiming he had been really busy with work (oil field worker he claims) and that he would be there the next morning with the repaired mower? Sure enough he shows the next morning with the mower and apologizing all over himself. He runs the mower about ten minutes around the yard and all seems fine. Off he goes and once again I attempt to mow my lawn?
Believe it or not, it runs for about 15 to 20 minutes and dies again? Unbelievable!!! So, now we go thru the whole process again and now he's claiming I'm doing something wrong??? He agrees to pick the mower up again and take it to his uncle this time who is a regular mower mechanic. He calls almost a week later claiming his uncle said the fuel pump went out and the part was on order! Three weeks later he's back with this mower and it dies coming off the trailer!!!
Now it's beyond funny? I'm really upset at this time and telling him to just return the spa/tub and we'll cancel the deal because I need a mower I can count on and this machine is NOT it! He begs me not to do this and that he will buy another mower and make this right because he's a fine Christian and he doesn't do things this way? Against my better judgement, I agree and away he goes.
A week later (again after calling him several times), he shows up with a nice looking Sears mower and it looks good and sounds good plus, it has a larger cutting surface! Bingo, I hit the jackpot!!! Wrong!!! He backs it off the trailer, runs it around the front yard for several minutes and it's doing a beautiful job cutting the lawn. He pulls it in my driveway and cuts it off so I can put it on the garage because I decided not to mow the lawn that day as I was not feeling up to par? As he's preparing the trailer to get ready to leave, I decide to move the mower into the garage and it will NOT start! I mean it's dead as dead could be!!! Talk about ready to tear your hair out? We are both standing there in disbelief and he says... not to worry! He will run to Sears and get a brand new battery and he'll be right back? I have not heard from them since and their phone number is no longer in service???
My neighbor pushed the mower into the garage and it's been sitting there since. I bought a new battery to replace the dead one and the mower still will not run? Stung again by another "fine Christian" as he so boldly claimed!!!
