  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is called a "truth" table. It does not come for nothing.

No working at the Methodist Hospital? Salvation Army? A store owned by Christians? Any bookstores? No working anywhere as part of my living out Christ?

I can work as a clerk in a Buddhist bookstore. That is no problem. But no "cooperation".

Let me describe it for you:
If P is Christianity and is taken as true,
and if Q is Buddhism and is taken as false,
then P and Q means the combination of the two religions.
The consequence is FALSE.

I have been charged by my seminary professor with creating an interfaith service for Thanksgiving. Any ideas?
In the center we place a white candle that represents the light of Divine Truth. On either side of the first candle we lay out other candles representing the various spiritual traditions. The table is dressed up with a white cloth for the sacred moment that it is. In front of each candle we place a copy of that particular religions scriptures or sacred text. The ceremony starts with lighting the first candle that represents Divine Truth. Some words are said about that aspect of Divine Truth. That first candle is than used to light the other candles. During the ceremony we say which religion is represented, light the candle and read from their sacred text and say something about the Divine quality that religion illustrates. Often song, meditation, dance or practice is done which is taken from that religion. Than we go on to the next candle and text and so on down the line. It's a ceremony we do once a month covering mostly the Christian religion, Hinduism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism and Islam. Often we also include the Goddess traditions and Indigenous traditions. I hope that helps.

I'm glad that God, as He rains His Love down upon humanity that a truth table isn't used by Him. His Love and Blessings are open and free to all.

Inviting people of other faith to join the church charity activities.
Never do it the other way.

One can predict the outcome of such proposal. And it illustrates that the idea of your professor is not appropriate.

This really embodies the core message of my own Faith.

Sounds wonderful, and thank you for serving God in this way!

No. I won't participate.
Because there are OTHER things hidden behind the the serving of the poor. A social service given by any religious group is never as simple as it appears.

I will join a food pantry set by Christians.
Or, if such a service is sponsored by the United Nation, then I would also participate, even the majority in the group are Muslims or Buddhists. In that case, it is not a religious event any more.

One HAS to be careful to live in this evil world.
I think your getting at the spirit of the question here. If it is about helping sounds like you would help. On the serving side-by-side part (which you find disagreeable) I agree there is evil out there but we are called to destroy that evil! I am expanding the Kingdom of God as Jesus' disciples and the. 70 and then 500 etc.

And the gate of hell will not prevail against the goodness I being from God. For that reason I m not afraid of "other religions" who at worst (at their most evil) are nothing more than demonic beings that I m called to crush in the name of Jesus.

To serve together means to cooperate, not to have fight internally. I can see a lot conflicts when people of different faith are trying to do that.

In my experience, when people of different spiritual paths come to together with a heart in service, there is nothing but full cooperation between them. At the same time, I've seen just the opposite when people did not come together with their heart in a service mode.

A person who has a faith of no doctrine, is able to cooperate with anyone. You have no problem to serve people with pork, but a Muslim won't.

I have no problem serving with people of other faiths and have done so many times. Such service actually brings a harmony, dissolves pointless conflicts.

Being in service, is just that. Nothing else matters.

I like that. To the point of interfaith, started a store with that messaging for all of us, Christian and otherwise. Interfaith acts as a bridge to neighborly service. All of us one - one family under God, whether we know it or not. Not sure I can post the address here, but I will try: www.boundless-creations.com - check out the CrossFired shirt!
