  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Perhaps tenth, perhaps not.
Perhaps final, perhaps not.
Many people sacrificed their sons and their daughters ,
Abraham was not unfamiliar with this.
Many people TODAY sacrifice their sons and daughters,
both after birth, and before birth,
are you unfamiliar with this TODAY ?

Abraham had YHWH'S PROMISE - Abraham had been chosen as the one out of
all the world, the only one.

No perhaps about it.

Abraham was chosen to be the father of a great nation, he acknowedged the one God in his young years.

No King is going to give anyone that responsibility without first testing their loyalty.

Not so much for the Kings sake but
for the one being tested sake.

Abraham taught Child/human sacrifice was a big no-no.

But nevertheless was prepared to do it, maybe he thought,

What the..........all what I've been teaching was wrong?

No, he had not been teaching wrong.

This doesn't make sense, from a Jew or from a gentile either.
What is written IN TORAH,
that Abraham believed ? (why he was willing to obey YHWH)

Abraham was surrounded by idol worshipers, his own father owned an
idol shop,

To hear His voice and to obey,
is all He desires.

Examples?

Ps 40:7,
You desired neither sacrifice nor meal-offering,
but (obedient) ears You opened for me;
You requested neither burnt offering nor sin offering.

Ps 50:12,
Were I hungry I would not tell you,
for the World and Everything in it is Mine.
13,
Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?

14,
offer confession as a sacrfice to God,
and fulfill your vows to the Most High.

15,
and call to Me on the day of distress:
I will free you and you will honour Me.

Perhaps,
yet more important at this point today re sacrificing his son :
what did Abraham think was going to happen
when he took his own son to be sacrificed,
and even had him bound and on the altar
with the knife raised and ready to complete the act ?

I do know what Abraham was thinking at the time,

could be he was being used to send a message to the World that,

"Extremists need not apply."

A demonstration to the idol worshippers,

So a person has to under go a theology to feed hungry people with you. Because you're worried about being associated with sinners? Because Christ never associated with sinners?

I am worried about that my faith would be contaminated. I don't care what other people think.

Yeah, that is strange here...
NONE of the disciples / denominations/ believers/ I know of
consider jws, or mormons, part of Christianity.

Was going to ask if they just forgot to change the label... (if that changed that is and they are no longer that ).

Judaism is different. Jews reject Lord Jesus. But they do not make up someone to replace Jesus.

The greatest command says to be sensitive to show love. That being the greatest command, my logic says that sensitivity to showing love should override sensitivity to sin.

Again, the Pharisees were very sensitive to sin, even more sensitive than Jesus was. Being tough on sin is not a sign of being a follower of teachings of Jesus.

To love a sinner is fine. But to work with a sinner is not.

A whole lot of people when they hear or read that Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his son, They go bananas.
Yet, fast forward, many believe a human was sacrificed for their sins .
Does not add up, not for me at any rate.

That is the whole problem with Judaism. You simply replace man Jesus by God Jesus, then every problem is solved. One change can solve a suite of systematic problems. That change must be a correct one.

What do you think of interfaith gatherings?

This is when people of various religious beliefs, especially religious leaders, get together to encourage peace between everyone. Often there are papers to sign showing that we can get along and have something in common and make for a better community in spite of differences.

Peace.

Generally not a good thing, because they are joined by the lowest common denominator, and not the truth of God.

I am not saying it is a wrong thing to promote peace, but peace can only be found in God as He has revealed Himself in the Bible. All other religions deny the truth of the Bible to one degree or other. The Bible warns Christians to not be unequally yoked to unbelievers, this includes falsely claiming that Christians share something in common [spiritually] with those who reject the truth of Jesus Christ.

I think such meetings are dangerously deceptive. Doing away with the centrality of Christ and the true Gospel message is not something that should ever be done. The truth is that there are not multiple "paths" to God, Jesus is the ONLY Way. The world needs to hear that now as much as ever.

Being a humanitarian is great, and Christians should absolutely care for others, however, it still matters in whose name such things are being done. Unity under anything other than Christ is a false unity, even if such unity is advocated for in the name of helping people in this life.

As Christians we know that this life, with all its joys and sorrows is fleeting and temporary. We need to care about the eternal destiny of people, not only their earthly lives. We must not compromise, not for anything, no matter how good it seems.

Jesus is the only name by which we can be saved. Beware of false unity that denies the centrality of Jesus Christ. That kind of deception is what will lead to the one world religion and the antichrist. I think we are actually seeing this false unity being called for more and more these days. I pray that all Christians seek discernment in the word of God in these and all matters.

This IS a spiritual battle, and there is far more than this earthly life at stake.

Well said!

The largest Christian denomination, the Roman Catholic Church, recognizes alternative path for Judaism.

Since that is a fundamental denial of the truth in scripture, Roman Catholicism cannot be called Christian. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that there are alternate paths to God.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Saying that Roman Catholics are not Christian is against the rules at Christian Forums.

Under Flaming and Goading…

“Stating or implying that another Christian member, or group of members, are not Christian is not allowed.”

Jews reject Lord Jesus.
You do realize, right, that Y'SHUA, John, Peter, Paul, basically all the Apostles and all the disciples in ACTS, etc, are JEWS !
Gentiles* (in Scripture) were allowed into YHWH'S KINGDOM,
by YHWH'S PLAN thru Y'SHUA
after the Jews who believed in Y'SHUA MESSIAH,
and many Jews TODAY BELIEVE IN Y'SHUA MESSIAH !
HALLELUYAH !

*Jews and gentiles(Lutherans, Baptists, catholics, individuals... etc ) who believe in Y'SHUA MESSIAH are in YHWH'S KINGDOM; Jews and gentiles(Lutherans, Baptists, catholics, individuals...etc) who reject the MESSIAH are not ... i.e. YHWH grants access to HIS KINGDOM thru Y'SHUA MESSIAH only, not thru membership in any group by roll call, but by faith in Y'SHUA(JESUS) according to YHWH'S GRACE ! So that wherever a person is, no matter how they were raised or later trained, in any group or not in a group at all,
they may freely by faith through grace be in YHWH'S KINGDOM(which is at hand TODAY).

Yeah, it maybe a problem for you,

as for many others through the ages.

As for Jesus, what is there to say.

So you're not worried about about what impressions you give people?
To do what you suggested also give a wrong impression that I "accept" other religions. That is NOT a good impression to people.
