  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Interesting Project.

I once talked to a "marketing" major while I was in college. He was in the throws of a final major project before graduation. He had to put together a major advertising campaign for a fictional product or service.

I was feeling wry that day and asked him, "So, how do you feel about having majored in propaganda techniques to manipulate people to do what they otherwise would not do?"

:D

Needless to say, he wasn't pleased that I had so roundly affronted the past four years of his life. So he launched into some contorted defense. That was instructive all by itself.

Marketing is pretty sinister. It is made to grab our attention, quickly.

To top it off, marketing is designed in a way that if we don't buy whatever is being advertised we are somehow less than a person....

Look at America, look how the homeless are viewed. They are viewed with disdain not with pity. It's because our society is a consumer driven society. If you don't have the means to buy, buy, buy, somehow you are bad.
