That's because I believe:I find that ethically problematic but whatever floats your boat I guess.
That's because I believe:
Thus, with God, might is right.
- God is might.
- God is right.
What makes God right?
Hopefully you never get the chance to decide right from wrong, and please do not raise any children, there are enough people in the world that don't think they need to be accountable for their actions as it is.
How about His own standards for one? What makes God right?
How about His own standards for one?
To wit ...
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Galatians 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
And that's just for starters!
What makes his standards right?
But what make his standards right? I'm not arguing for no standards, I'm asking you to justify the standards you have chosen.Because without standards I can just shoot you in the head for no reason and its ok to do so. I don't think you really believe standards are bad do you? If you continually harm other people why should you be allowed to continue to do so for eternity? But if you follow the law of love then you won't harm anyone else and therefore have nothing to worry about.
It's not what you profess, but your actions.
Luke 12:47-48 47 And that slave who knew his masters will and did not get ready or act in accord with his will, will receive many lashes,
48 but the one who did not know it, and committed deeds worthy of a flogging, will receive but few. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.
Those professing will be judged by stricter standards than those never having heard.
Rev 20:13-15 "...And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and http://biblia.com/bible/nasb95/Revelation 20.13-15#footnote0death and Hades http://biblia.com/bible/nasb95/Revelation 20.13-15#footnote1gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them http://biblia.com/bible/nasb95/Revelation 20.13-15#footnote2according to their deeds..."
Follow the law of love and your misdeeds will be slight and your punishment light. All others will simply cease to exist.
'Murder,' you say? would denying it do me any good?
I deny it was murder, but if that's the word you want to go with, that's your prerogative.
I can't tell if you're disgusted because you think it was murder; or if you think it was murder because you're disgusted.
In any event, I think it was obedience, and I don't agree with the term "murder."
It's your picture you're painting.
If you don't like it -- stop.
Jesus justified His standards when they could find no fault in Him at His trials -- none whatsoever. But what make his standards right? I'm not arguing for no standards, I'm asking you to justify the standards you have chosen.
Jesus justified His standards when they could find no fault in Him at His trials -- none whatsoever.
Why wouldn't I sum it up shamelessly?Shamelessly summing up your position as "might is right" would make the whole of Christian world slap you on the back I'm sure.
Why wouldn't I sum it up shamelessly?
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Jesus went through six trials: 3 at the hands of the Sanhedrin and 3 at the hands of the Romans. So the justification for God's standards comes from the ancient Roman legal system?
Not that I know of.The gospels say "might is right" do they?
Is evolution in the Gospels?Perhaps you should have a rethink then.
Is evolution in the Gospels?
This actually doesn't require one to be a Rhodes scholar to figure out.Resolving the dilemma of having your conclusion "might is right" not quite tallying with the content of the gospels is not answered by pointing out that the gospels omit scientific facts. Unless of course you think that omitting "might is right" from the gospels was an oversight. Is that what you are driving at? A complete rewrite of the gospels to include your own personal summation, "might is right", to justify your god's killing sprees in the bible? That would certainly have pepped up the sermon on the mount.
