It does get confusing with the mulitiplicity of interpretations out there. The writings of early Church fathers can open the door to understanding scripture and the history of the Church. Here is a link to ECF writings:http://www.ccel.org/fathers2/

God Bless :)

Thank you Asinner

Unfortunately any suggested readings, not just by you, are the beliefs of a particular church. Seldom, if ever, have I been directed to reading that is other than just one churches/religions. Even the history of the church is slanted to the church in question. Even bibles from different churches are worded differently. I no longer have any set idea as to which bible to read, to believe so I don't bother much reading. To be quite honest, right now my religion is God because He is the only one who is always the same with me, exactly the same.

threeinone :) ,

The writings of those men who lived from 60 AD through the compilation of the scriptures and beyond are only slanted towards Christ's Church. Remember that there was only ONE Church for the first 1000 years; therefore the writings found during this time typify that of the Church, not differing religions.

God Bless

I do thank you

it is just that I find any kind of religious reading to be so wordy, so unclear, with sentences so long that I have to go back to the first of the sentence to figure out where I was or am or both. Most literature I find to be written for people with huge memories to read a sentence that is a paragraph or more long. I'm afraid that I am not that good. I stick to the simple, Charlie Brown stuff.

Thank you for caring.

This is simple, yet profound, and needs no words. :)

Thou hast ascended in glory, O Christ our God, having made joyful Thy disciples by the promise of the Holy Spirit, which
was announced unto them in the blessing; for Thou art the Son of God, the Redeemer of the world.

Ah, those are the kind of words I love to hear. Music to my ears.:amen:
