• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thats ok I haven't been answered in my post too, I understand your anger
And one thing my treatment taught me is that its ok to be angry
I had intensive treatment for a month (hosp) and aftercare which is basically a drop in of an afternoon a week for another two months as well as a regular meeting with a Doctor,

I have mixed feelings about it all because its shown me alot but of course my medical records now interfere with my job an my fate on that is yet to be decided and i found my career a very important part of who I am but it seems so unfair sometimes,
They have given me a new perspective on things and you meet people who have gone through so much worse than you

Thanks SB.

I am being offered (as I said before) three days a week intensive group therapy for 18 months. And I am very scared of this.

And nobody gives a damn. Except, now, your good self. Plenty people viewed the thread, but nobody said, I can see you, and I understand.

Yes, that does make me angry. And equally angry for your unanswered post. For a Christian forum to end up with hundreds of posts about homosexuality and abortion and such issues, and ignore cries for help from brothers and sisters is a crying shame.

I have myself sometimes gone to support areas, and answered every unanswered post I can find. Shame on us for leaving any post unanswered in such a part of this forum.

Rant over. Thanks for being there. One is enough.

I think three days a week is good, and if its offered and not thrust upon you then people listen more willingly as they save all their energy to fight there own depression,
Fear is an emotion that stops us from acting on our own, I was really really scared too.
You can ask for a taster session, I am not going to lie and say it wont be painful reliving the past and learning to move on is what its all about!
Write lots and lots even if it doesnt make sense just feelings all jumbled up just get it out of your system *hugs*

It sucks that no one replied but I think it is easy for people on here to fall into the trap of thinking 'I'm not sure what to say so I won't say anything and someone else will answer it' It isn't because they don't care tho I know how it can feel like that. I hope the treatment helps you, it's ok to feel scared I don't know if it makes sense but i kinda think that being scared shows us that this is gonna make something change because change causes fear. I'm sorry I'm not very helpful I just wanted to post to show you that I do care...

I hated going to intensive therapy when it was a daily thing. Once it got to the weekly meetings, things were a lot better. I made good friends during the 12 weeks (none of whom "know" me outside of therapy). More importantly, I made a lot of life changes to help me deal with depression. Ultimately, it was the best thing for me in years!

It was good to not be alone. And you will find, it is good to be in a community that will guarantee an instant response. (Internet communication can be so unpredictable.)

Blessings to you in your weeks ahead!

Sorry that no one replied :(

I have been in intesive [OP] treatment for about 6 months now. It's not nearly as scary as it sounds...I promise.

[PS: My name is Katherine Anne too!]

Thanks, PureGrace. What a lovely screen name. (And real name!!) :)

I am glad you are finding your t not so scarey. That helps a lot. I have no idea what to expect from it, except for lots and lots of tears. But maybe some good things too.

Thanks, Witness. Not sure when mine is starting. Next appointment for discussion is not until April, and goodness only knows how long after that it will start.

The UK does not move quickly on health care.

I have been unwell since 1997 - maybe the same kind of time as yourself. Since then there has been a bit of this and a bit of that, but nothing consistent, and most of the time nothing at all.

However, this time I am told this will work. I have heard the same thing before, but I can at least give it a try. Nothing left to lose after all this time.

Thanks, Taylor. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Wow! Not until April?!?! That is awfully slow moving. I pray that you'll be able to find some peace while you wait!

Thank you. Pure Grace is actually what my/our name means! I love it.

Friend, I won't lie to you and tell you that therapy is a walk in the park. It's just like life: you will have great times, and you will have hard times. Nothing, however, can compare to being able to completely spill your guts to someone who you truly know cares and is out to help you [and will not spread around the info that you tell her/him!]

My treatment used to be more intensive than it is, as I'm not participating in the full program any more [after a partial recovery]. If my sessions keep going like they did today, however, it just might be picking up! :help:

It's just how it works. I encourage you to look into this opportunity, and see it not as a scary thing, but as a chance to recover. Wouldn't you love to actually feel happy [truly happy] again? I know that that is what keeps me going.
