  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is something like part 99 or 100, it is on intelligence.

God gives us understanding, He tells us what to do, and what not to do. But there are wild gourds. These are goofy people who are silly. Then hinder God in what He is wanting to do.

God gives us wisdom, knowledge & talent. He gives us the ability to be able to work with people. He enables us to know how to act and conduct ourselves. He will supply and provide all that we need. We can be steadfast and consistant. We can be unsinkable. We will have adversity, but we will always overcome.

If people contradict God, then they are a liar. We should be anxious for nothing, and always have a attitude of gratitude. Even when things do not go as planned. The power of God transforms people. We must use discretion at all times. It will preserve us and keep us safe. Lots of problems are caused by people who do not use discretion. Nothing is good, unless Jesus is in it. We can be happy and content at all times. Be glad and rejoice. Some people have no tact, we must have tact, before we make contact. We must have humility, no prejudice, no pride. We must be endued with power, so we can endure. God gives enduring power. Keeping and staying power. Love begats love, hate begats hate. We convert people one at a time, even when we deal with thousands. We can talk to everyone, at the same time, even the whole world. It is simple, we just talk to everyone. Man was created intellegent, Adam did not have to go to school. He was taught by God. We can be taught by God, though the person of the Holy Spirit. We must always show good judgement. God will bless us first, so we can be a blessing to others.

We were created to be intellegent. Use that intellegence to honor and glorify God. Use that intellegence to build people up and help them, not to tear them down or belittle them. Don't make remarks about people, don't even tease them. Be careful that we do not do more harm than good. Show good judgement at all times. Divine inspiration is a mighty guide. We can do great things for God. Do all to honor and glorify God. Do not fight against Him.

Hi there John!

I notice in your post that silly people hinder God in his plan. Is he omnipotent or not?

Oh, ok, I will get that scripture for you. This is a referance to wild gourds:

2 Kings 4:39-41
So one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered from it a lapful of wild gourds, and came and sliced them into the pot of stew, though they did not know what they were. [40] Then they served it to the men to eat. Now it happened, as they were eating the stew, that they cried out and said, "Man of God, there is death in the pot!" And they could not eat it. [41] So he said, "Then bring some flour." And he put it into the pot, and said, "Serve it to the people, that they may eat." And there was nothing harmful in the pot.

Ok, I will give this a try. The wild gourds are goofy and silly people who mess up the pot of stew. But as soon as you put the bread of life, the word of God into the pot, then there will be nothing harmful in the stew.

Um. Please clarify: what does this have to do with the forum topic?

The topic is intelligence. I just saw on another thread where they are discussing the topic of knowledge.

This is kind of along the line of a thread I started on secular humanism vs. the christian beliefs. But I do not know what happened to that thread, so when I get a chance I am going to need to go looking for it.

So why are you hindering God, John?

If you had real intellegence, then you would know how to act and conduct yourself. My mamma raised me from the time I was a child by telling me that intellegent people do not belittle and put people down. She always said that ignorant people do that in a vain attempt to try and build themselves up. This sort of Jerry Springer mentality is for common people, not intellegent people.

Well your mother also raised you to who you are, she really can't be trusted...

So a charity set up by a non-christian religion (or even no religion at all) is not good? If I devote the rest of my life to helping others I am not good? I'd be pretty surprised if Jesus was in me, because I'm an atheist.

By the way, your post has no place in the science forum. Try one of the other ones.

If you really helped them. But apart from God there is really not a whole lot we can do, to really help people.

God has to bless us, before we can be a blessing to others. If God does not bless us to begin with, we will have nothing to share with others, or give to them.

Giving sick poor people who cannot afford a treatment medicine is not helping them? Lots of people in my life have helped me without giving me God. Unless you define 'really helping people' as giving them God, which is a debatable proposition.
