INSTRUCTIVE COMPARISONS #7
In reference to: THE RESURRECTION
Romans 1:1-4... Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God 2: which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, 3: concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, 4: and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. (NKJV bold added)
Philippians 3:10... That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable to His death. (KJV, caps added)
In Acts 3 while preaching, Peter said that he was one of the witnesses to the resurrection of the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead and then went on to say to his Jewish audience Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out (not covered as in the O.T.)
Converted from what to what? From unbelieving Jew to new creations in Christ Jesus the Messiah.
Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. For Moses truly said to the fathers, The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatsoever He says to you. (3:21,22)
Back in Acts 2, Peter was very straightforward in his preaching to the Jews. He explains exactly what David prophesied in the Psalms, and says that David spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ (vs.31) And that This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. (vs.32).
Then in his First Epistle, Peter says Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1 Pet.1:3)
Paul explains how that is possible in 2 Corinthians 5:17... Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Obviously, anyone means anyone, whether Jew or Gentile.
To construct a false dichotomy between what God proclaimed through Paul, and what He proclaimed through Peter, is not to rightly divide but to introduce heresy.
